From the bank they did not look right when I opened them 39 Roll's are New 2011-D Nickels and the rest where mix but there was some 09 mixed in and the other box had all New 2010-D. From what I see it's going to be tuff to get any over MS-66FS from what I found in this box on the 2011-D's.

Thanks for the report...no 2011's here in Iowa yet.

It just amazes me what "dreck" the new design nickels are compared to how good the classic design can look after 30-40 years.

I need to go to your bank. Went to one of mine yesterday and got the same old "sorry. no new coins. we can't order them and haven't seen any".
Gets hard keeping the boy's albums up to date image

Would you consider giving up a few rolls, say 10 and send them my way.......for a fee of course.

Having the true business strikes back with us, we can rest assured that the dies used to strike the circulating coins are the same dies that struck the coins for the mint sets.

The certifying coin grading companies will have to deal with the onslaught differences in luster again and hopefully, they will notice the varying differences in strike details (cross your fingers on that one image )

With the satin finish coins, what was there to grade? The marks and blemishes? It was a perfected coin. The strike and the satin finish surfaces were made exactly the same for each coin.

After 8 long years, the hunt to locate the best struck, most lustrous markfree business strikes returns to us once again!

Why didn't you hunt for nice business strikes for the last 8 years?

    Leo,

I'm with you man! Stopping those Satins migh tjust be one of the best things the Mint has done for us collectors in a long time!

To reply to Mingot, hunting nice business strikes while all this Satin crap was goin on made it tough. If you were lucky to find a nice true business strike, the grading folks might call it a satin or more likely, it would be a great normal business strike coin and get a nice grade, like MS66FS, but then you are competing with Satins that graded as business strikes getting MS67FS and MS68FS. Pretty much sucked!

    Just my thoughts

I think it's a little harder to fine them in rolls or even just finding the rolls was tuff. But now any one can buy 40 mint sets and keep the nice ones, send the rest back and have the nicer ones graded for high grades. But that is just me. I am keeping alot of the satin ones for the short set. image
