Is it worthwhile to have the Silver ATB Quarters (the small ones) certified?

I was saving some of these in the unopened boxes to have certified for my 1 yr old grandson as First Strikes, starting with his birth year (last year), and as I looked over the submission form, it appears that the cost is $14 + $18 = $32 + S&H/per coin. That's alot of money, and even if a 70 or two popped up, it's not like they are going to be sold for profit or flipped in order to finance the endeavor.

What would you advise?

I think if you want them graded, you can find them for sale cheaper already graded.

If you wait a Year they usually come down, most people chase the current year. Also you can get ATS graded sets for around $125 in Pr 70.

I wonder if collectors will embrace First Strike designations when your grandson is grown?

FS Silver PCGS PF 70 DCAM First Strike Sets are in the range of $275-$300. Probably just better to buy the graded sets. I bought a 2010 set off ebay for $289 last year.

I agree that just buying them is usually cheaper. Also wonder if First Strike is needed for a yearly proof set. Does it really mater if it was sent in in the first month after the release date?
