Shipping time on the bay

fcloudfcloud Posts: 12,133 ✭✭✭✭
Smoe people crack me up. I had some BIN stuff purchased from me Saturday evening. The post office was closed by then; Sunday UPSP closed; Monday was a holiday, so USPS closed again. Stuff dropped in the box on Monday, so it was fianally shipped on Tuesday. The guy gets the stuff on Thursday and absolutly ruins my shipping time feed back. I think it is funny that people pay so little attn to the days UPSP is closed and blames the seller for slow shipping. You simply can't make this stuff up! image at least they left positives. My 30 day averages is like in the red on my dashboard because UPSP was closed. ;LOL;

I ship the same day or the next, depending upon time of payment. Still can't please some people.

That is my scenario, too. Same day or next depending on what time their payment is made. I used to ship out before the payments were received, but that didn't make any difference, so I stopped doing that.

Did you email the buyer after he paid telling him that the PO would be closed and that you would
    mail out his item ASAP?

I find communication is key with ebay buyers.

Don't expect them to figure things out on their own.

    Good for you.

He got the item less than a week from close of auction. I would say that was good even if there wasn't post office closures in the middle of it all. If I where you I would put that guy on my favorite seller list than when they have some cheap item up buy something and neg them and give them low marks across the board.

free shipping is a joke; it honestly doesnt help. you end up getting dinged anyway and your out the $$. Charge a fair price and send a nice email; it does wonders.

I just BAM buyers when they downgrade DSR's for no reason. Plenty of buyers are still out there.

I'll agree on the communication piece. He absolutely got it in enough time there shouldn't be a problem, but I have found it easiest/best to send an email to my winners telling them that I have it all packaged up and ready to go once the PO is open on (Monday/Tuesday/etc.....reminding them of weekends/holidays) and that, while I am shipping it quick on my end, I can't do anything about the PO but to please let me know when they get it.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Just curious - how many stars would you give a seller who ships an item paid for on the 12th (after hours) and ships on the 20th? There were no extenuating circumstances. I'm on the fence between 3 and 4.

Simply not the way I do things. If the buyer wants to purchase more he/she are welcome back anytime. And if they gave me the same ratings that would just be life; although, I think I would let them know the post office was closed which may cause a delay.

what really sux is when you ship right out registered and they ding you because of the slowness of registered. Even after you gave them a heads up registered was slower, but safer.

Had one today. Sold on March 31st at around 7 pm. He got the card today said fast SH time in the feedback and all great things. But I see my SH time went down .04 which made me furious. 4 day SH time was to slow on a 2.75 SH fee.
    WTF EVER!!

E-bay is changing there policy so that if you ship(print the label) the next business day, they cant leave anything other than 5 . Takes effect with the new upcoming changes. I like this, keeps from getting dinged like the free shipping issue before they changed it.

It's already in effect when labels are printed using the eBay print option.
I got that coin from you with only two fields for stars the other day.

What if a seller doesnt print labels or use that method , does typing in the tracking number do the same thing ?
