E-Bay Scheme

Today I saw a neat deal on E-Bay and wonder how long they will let the user get away with it. For explanation sake lets say silver is at 37.00 an ouce.Seller was charging 36.00 for shipping and most auctions were going for 2.50 to 3.00. That way he pays the 8% on the 3 bucks.....

I wish i would have thought of that. Will they keep letting him get away with that??? Is he breaking any ebay rules????

Starting in April the fees are charged on Sale Price and Shipping. Or is it June?

Well, it will soon not matter one bit. Except maybe for the IRS.

ebay calls it fee avoidance and if reported to them they will take action

If I were are a buyer, I would complain to ebay about excessive shipping (which is not allowed) and hope they were forced to reduce shipping to a reasonable amount.

Definitely against ebay rules, and if I was you, I would report them. But, as mentioned earlier, this tactic will soon go away since ebay will be charging their fees on the final price and the shipping. This should continue to promote free shipping.

I've reported many such auctions.

Nothing happens.

The complaints seemingly go into a black hole and the seller's practice continues.

I've given up reporting them as a stand-alone report. I'll mention it if I'm reporting something else.

other things I've given up reporting:

keyword spamming, wrong category (except for copy and replica coins).

Those and fee avoidance all seem to go nowhere.
