Thought I would give ebay a try selling after several years :(

Should have listened, auction for some silver closes at 11 EST PM on Saturday, can't ship Sunday (below my cost anyways, send you have to ship for free just to keep your DSR's up, what a load), so I figure since I state 1 day handling I would take it on my lunch break (11 a.m.) and ship. So I get to the PO and my blackberry rings, email, from buyer. Sent Monday 9:46 a.m " Where is my freaking silver", WOW. Just ot for me guys and I will give you my ebay ID if you want to block me as I don't care anymore. NO NEGATIVES or NEUTRALS huh, so they can do whatever they like and hold you hostage in my book. So I leave positive, " Item bought and paid late Saturday, can't ship Sunday so no need for "Where the hell is my silver?" Monday early a.m. I am sure I will get negatived, disputed, bad DSR's, but I just don't care. Guy's if I buy a coin regardless of handling or shipping policy, I won't even bother the seller for 2 weeks. Not sure if it mattered, but I shipped USPS flat rate, delivery confirmation, put the silver in a padded envelope, plus tape, gas, time and no lunch (maybe why I am cranky) for $3.95.
Seems that you must follow these rules, 1 day handling, low or free shipping, delivery confirmationa and such or you get less bids, yet people act like this is a full time job for us. Ebay is Bull, period.

It sounds like your buyer either called the wrong seller or was promised overnight express or was under that impression.Instead of posting your ebay id you should post the irate buyers id and save us all some grief further down the road.

i'm with you, i don't bother anyone unless too much time has gone by
Unfortunately, EBay is full of them these days, and EBay doesn't much seem to care about them than they do the crooked sellers.
and thats alot o f"in zeros

Additionally the handling time is business days, not calendar days, so payment on Friday means shipping on Tuesday.

Neg or no neg - Life's too short to put up with jerks like this. I say out him already!
Seller code of ethics:
1. Don't be an ass.
2. If you are in communicado with someone who bought an item, don't harass them for payment 48 hours after the sale (especially over the weekend). Keep your head cool for a week then start politely inquiring about payment.
3. Package your goods well. Nothing says unprofessional like a beat up envelope nearly ripped open and only held closed by your bacteria-filled saliva.
4. Don't post misleading pictures as you will have to deal with returns and a buyer with a bitter taste left in their mouths.
5. Allow returns.
6. Charge for shipping roughly what it costs you to ship.
Buyer code of ethics:
1. Don't be an ass.
2. Keep good communication with the seller especially if you bought something from a mom and pop shop that is of higher value than they typically sell.
3. Don't whine and moan about shipping charges unless they are much higher than what it costs the seller to ship.
4. Don't be a chronic returner. Nothing irritates a seller more than a buyer who returns 9 out of 10 purchases. Regarding auctions for this: YOU ARE COSTING THE SELLER MONEY BY RETURNING AN ITEM. After the item is returned, they have to put it up in another auction (7+ days) and they usually get passed over because people have seen it already and realize that somebody already returned it. Nobody wants sloppy seconds.
5. Offer to pay via check if you are comfortable with the seller. You'll save the seller mucho paypal fees and they'll be grateful.
6. When returning an item, use the same care the seller used to ship it to you.

I buy a lot of things on Ebay.
A couple weeks ago, what I think must have been an Elderly Seller advertised on his listing that he would ship USPS. My confirmed address is a POB, so that always works out well for me. I waited a couple weeks and still didn't get the package but didn't think that big a deal.
A couple days later the seller emails me very rudely asking for another $14 shipping fee because the package was returned to him. He wanted the fee again because I gave him a bad address since it was stamped something to the effect of "Not Deliverable". I politiely communicated with him, and found out he sent it UPS. I had to inform him that UPS doesn't deliver to POB. He said, well it was easier to mail UPS that day since he was going by one of their outlets. He kinda apologized when I explained everything to him. How in the World it got past the UPS clerk is beyond me.
You just have to roll with the little problems and not make them into a big deal, but many people don't grasp that concept. After I recv'd the package, I reimbursed him the other shipping fee anyway. Why not !!!, it wasn't a big deal to me, but apparentely it was to him based on his rude email to me about the returned package.

It has always been my understanding that they don't. However, I've seen UPS delivering to my local post office numerous times.

That wouldn't fly with me. If the seller sent it the wrong way (aside from what he stated in the auction) and it was returned to him, why on earth would he send you a rude email? AND expect you to pay more shipping. I would have told that jerk to eat it and deal with the negative he's about to get.
However, if the seller didn't send me a rude email, I would have been patient with the guy but not pay extra shipping for his screw up.
not only that they will not allow me to list any items until I set up automatic payment!
I have been an ebay Member since: Sep-06-04 have not had to set up any automatic payment method and have not had any issues paying my sellers fee's

<< <i>Yeah, ebay gives buyers, no matter how sh**ty they are, complete control. However, some sellers can be just as bad as what you experienced...... >>
Great post there, poorguy! People should use that as a guide.
