I have 5 after a late start and anyone who wants them should have more than one at this point (if they can afford them) because they are sure available.

Dont have any yet.Wont pay the e bay or tv show prices of 2500-4000.Waiting to hear anything from the authorized bullion dealer I contacted.I have bought one hot springs coin for 50% over spot.Guess it will be awhile for me to break even.image

I have sold about 15 sets, but I don't own any. I had a bunch of people I know buy them and split the profits with all of them. Now that prices have come down, I wouldn't mind owning a set to keep.

Well all I know is there one of the AP's So I would say They can be trusted with no problems. Plus I think the post office money order is a safe bet since it can be tracked as well. It was alittle more of a hassle but total cost with priority mail and confirmation was only 956.15 which I consider a deal. image

To watch spot rise so they could justify asking more for them and still keep the mint happy. The mint won't hold them to a price less than melt.

There are multiple APs selling right now, and they are a fantastic deal for 25 oz physical silver, even if you hate them.

  • i see these sets all over ebay for 1300+..... way higher if they grade 69

i dunno, i dont follow modern stuff, did these 'AP's' just get the green light to sell or something? as in are 1000's of new sets now on the market... which'll eventually push those ebay prices down to their melt value?

Here is my understanding, and someone please correct me if I'm incorrect: A few weeks ago, there was some memo that surfaced saying that the 2011 Gettysburg bullion would be distributed to the APs in late April. The APs can only participate in the 2011 ATB bullion if they can certify that they sold the 2010 pieces according to the Mint's terms. So, we're seeing a big shakeout. This will immediately effect prices of raw sets and I can imagine it will certainly cause a decline in prices for all grades.

I have no idea why you ask, nor have an answer for your w,w,w,w + w question.

I do know I just paid a $1.00 premium per oz for 5 one oz Apmex bars today based on the Kitco value.

    $38.20 ea.

What premium is that? You can buy these cheaper than you can silver.

The fuss is over big, heavy bullion pieces. It looks like bullion because it is. Not everyone is required to own it. The premiums will vary "with the market", just like they do for any other numismatic item.

As I look at your Registry Set, Dimeman - I see plenty of built-in premium. Each to his own. I haven't decided whether or not I want to collect these Pucks, but that really should be a question of personal preference - don't you agree?image

Quite a different story in Boston yesterday. IIRC $1300 raw and $1500 slabbed.

Again, I'm not sure why you ask.

Nor your purpose or any idea what is up with this.

I'll give it my best shot -

I think there is a 5,000 oz min order on silver futures contracts and there is a 1,000 oz silver futures contract too, 6E or something it's named. Can't remember.

I have no idea if 5,000 oz, (if that is correct, probably not image ) makes a difference in the price.

If there are dots to connect in this exchange between us, I fail to comprehend the image outlined.

My comments/questions are open to anyone who wishes to answer/share info. It is just mostly coincidence that they appear in your post. If I hit reply, my question may be several posts removed from the issue I was seeking info on. The sale of just a few shares can affect the price of a thinly traded stock so I was wondering what kind of trades would affect the PM prices we see on Kitco, Apmex, etc. Does Apmex's daily business have an effect on world silver prices or are they merely followers as opposed to leaders?

The great thing about coin collecting is that you can do it any way you want to. The downside is that you can't make everybody agree that your point of view is the only correct one. image
  • I have purchased a few sets and ultimately plan on keeping one full set of decent coins (MS68ish), selling the 69s and the raw coins that would likely yield lower grades.

I wound up with 1 free set and kept all the highest grades for each type.
