"We All Have Our Hobbies"........Thanks New England Coin Rarities

Thanks to NER I have acquired an unusual but very neat Medalet
It is in the book #47 of the "100 Greatest American Tokens and Medals" by Katherine Jaeger and Q. David Bowers.

This medalet comes in:
White Metal 100-200 known
Brass 75-100 known
Copper 125-250 known

Mine is copper 491C

Rather than me give you the background on this medalet I have copied the page in the book and posted it below my images.
The Medalet is designed by Lovett. Please read the article, it is quite interesting

RWB stole my line. Put it in an airtite and carry it in your pocket, pull it out if someone wants to see a picture of your wife/mother-in-law, etc.

Very cool, Steph! When first seeing the witch....(until reading the included page from the book) I immediately thought of Salem, MA, 'Witch City', only 20 mins NW from me, so I guess I don't 'appreciate' it fully for what it is, having been there more times than I can count. Though, I still love the logic of 'dunking'....where if you were accused of being a witch, they 'dunked' you....if you didn't drown, you were considered a witch, and then burned at the stake...if you drowned, you were not a witch and cleared of the accusation...if you were accused, you were all done, regardless...only in the Puritanical state of Mass!

Didn't mean to get off topic, but the witch.....great pick-up, Steph! Must be one of the nicest examples of the estimated 125-250.

Just noticed...is that a cud at 3:00 on the reverse???

Yes, there is a cud, all of them have it.......at least the ones I have seen.
CRO just sold one that is an MS65. This one also have proof like fields.

I've liked the piece since I've heard of it (don't have one). I suspect the reverse is a satirical jab at coin and medal collectors, a self-fulfilling statement that's they'll buy anything the medallists of the day would produce.
