Proof $10 Liberties and a few doo wop records

Just put up survival numbers for proof $10 Liberties on the PCGS Price Guide. These coins are way rarer than most people realize. A lot of the issues only have 10 to 20 known in all grades, some even less than that.

What Ron Guth and I have done is put up numbers for any coin for which there are 100 or less know. We've done half cents thru $10 Liberties. I'll finish the $20 Libs and Saints soon. Check the figures out on the PCGS Price Guide. Hope you enjoy this new feature of the PCGS Price Guide.

Working late as usual on one of the most fun things I get to do...the PCGS Price Guide and PCGS CoinFacts. Many of you know I'm a rock n roll/doo wop/blues rare record collector. Love the music. So what I do is put youtube music videos on one screen and work on the PCGS Price Guide and/or CoinFacts on the other screen. Life is good and I'm one lucky little boy.

Speaking of doo wop, I wonder what happened to Lucybop?

I also wonder when it's time to trickle a few pieces into the marketplace from my huge stash of boxed proof $10 Liberties that I have devoted two-thirds of my closet to. Hmm. Maybe it's time for some spring cleaning. After all, I need room for my clothes.

I can totally relate! I've been "working" all evening on our site as well.

A great man once said...."find something you love to do, figure out how to get paid for it, and you'll never work a day in your life"....that was a smart man.

Record collecting huh? Now that gives me a great idea, I'll have to add music collecting to our topics image

Thanks for the great info. I LOVE Coin Facts and use it darn near every day for something. SUPER resource!!

    Enjoy the "Tunes" HRH....

    image for the survival numbers!

    And

    image for the music!
  • ty for the help with the picture, image

anyway the reasons i think it may be a proof:

general pl appearance even though i thinks its been wiped with a rag
date seems to slant up and right
very liquid like deep within the devices
i dont know what "incomplete curls" on this coin

    what you y'all think?

    Forgot to add-

Thank you, HRH, for a great site. I might not be a fan of doo wop music and my story about a closetful of proof $10 Libs might have been slightly exaggerated, but it's no exaggeration to say that these forums are MY "social networking" site. I have a Facebook account and haven't been there in at least six months because the coin talk isn't as fulfilling there.

  • I noticed those population survival estimates in the price guides. Thank you for taking the extra time to put the information in. While CoinFacts offers the info as well, it is handy to have it right there in the price guide, especially when looking up prices on my phone right there at the bourse.

Now, if I can just actually afford proof gold, and the market would actually allow proof gold to appear for sale anywhere, the information could be more than esoteric and theoretical from my end!

Thanks also for adding similar notes to the business strikes. It is amazing how "cheap" these coins are, given their rarity. Coins that exist only as a few hundred known are in some cases just a bit over their more common early 20th century counterparts. I feel very fortunate to be able to collect these coins actively.

I'm really glad you guys are doing this (estimated survival rates) something that will have to be maintained, but well worth the effort (even if you have to listen to DOO WOP records while you update it image)
