Correct, that means Extremely Fine -Uncirculated. The best I can figure it is equivalent to a British dealer saying Good EF, could be anything from AU55-MS65.

The words used together describe nothing.

A Vz coin is, or should be in the range of 45-55.

If grading 58-61 it should be described as unc-;

An MS62-63 coin should be described as just unc., and,

stgl (stempelglanz) is at least an MS64 coin, up to MS67. Of course, if it's really a 66+ to 67+ coin most dealers (German & Swiss) will quote 10-15% more than a just "nice" MS64.

Now, paying 15% more for a raw MS67 is better than paying 3-500% more for a similar lightside grade range, no?

Loosely translated, it stands for something like, "the duck is in the cupboard, behind the baked beans".

Then again, depending on the inflection when it is spoken aloud, it could also mean, "I would like a pistachio ice cream cone with pickle relish on it, please."

It's the column in German Price Guides between Vorzuglich (EF) and Stempelglanz (Unc). In practical use, vz-st equals About Uncirculated.
