Is this a good price? for a Bullion American Eagle?

A friend is selling some bullion one ounce eagles I think from 1988. He is looking for 1350 a piece, not sure if there is any money to be made for me after that since I have never dealt with bullion coins. Please tell me your opinion.

Thanks

Melt alone is at around $1400.
  • That's a good deal. Typically you can sell it fair, at about a 2-5% markup above spot. A lot of dealers are charging more than that, but I think 50 (roughly 4%) above spot is fair. Gold is currently at 1420, so selling it at 1470, is a good profit if you got it for that price.

if they are gold eagles, excellent price, buy all you can. If they are proofs, even better
