Which to use TT points on?

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,556 ✭✭✭✭✭
I made a major buy within the last week that gave me quite a few points. I have just under 7000 points.
I have a few points expiring in less than a week. If I don't want to lose those points, then I need to use some points to buy something.

I don't care for the 2011 Redbook (have one).
I could get anything up to the MS64 Morgan (of their choice, either NGC or PCGS).

I could get 1 SAE (MS69, again their choice of plastic) and have enough points left over to likely get another one very soon.
If it were just about the money (silver value vs coin value), I think that would be the way to go, right? 1 SAE is worth ~$40+ right now, right? A MS 64 (common morgan) is worth somewhere in the $40s or $50s?
So, if I got the SAE and then had enough for another SAE pretty soon, I could get 2 of them (~$80) instead of using almost all the points for just 1 morgan ($40ish).

That all said, its never been just about the money/profit for me.....I am tempted for the morgan still.

Thoughts?

MS64 Morgan is a good deal. Going rate is about $80 wholesale for those.

  • I got an MS 64 Morgan from them. Being free I expected it to be ugly. Mine was much nicer than expected.

    Really?
Wow! I really hadn't kept up on the morgans for over a year now....that's pretty good then.

The coin rewards are pretty much random, it seems. You could get a really nice one or you could get a dog.

Are your points lasting for full yr. before expiry?

I seem to recall some guy posting recently, saying his points were not lasting the full year. Like 10 months instead, I think he said?

Get the Morgan Ron. Who knows, maybe they'll send you an unattributed VAM.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I got a milk spotted SAE and sold it about 2 months ago for $31. It is hit or miss on the quality you get

Points last for 1 year IFF you have a purchase within 6 months. So, if you have no activity within 6 months, I believe they will expire them.
Last year, this almost happened but I made a purchase on the cusp of the time period (I didn't realize the time issue then) and was just shy of points but one of the nice CSP gals reinstated my recently expired (talking a day or two here) points as a courtesy, and I used them.

Looking like the morgan (and, the MS63 morgan I got last year was a nice one as well).

    Thanks image
I had wished that the points could be moved around as well as a year+ ago, I didn't think I would ever be able to use mine (and I did have some just flat out expire) and I wanted to gift them to someone else as well.

    Oh well.

I did just call and will have a MS64 morgan shipped to us. My son gets another coin for his collection image
