i blocked him and sent him a message, here is his response:
"you have no issues with me as to y your blocking me but e- bay will be invalved, and the person sending out false info will be deal with e-bay and any other seller that gets invalved"

to which i replied: perhaps you should "invalve" a little spellcheck.

Why is this guy still allowed on ebay? Would the old ebay feedback rules have taken care of this?

Nope. The only way to get rid of buyers has always been if they got enough unpaid item strikes. This guy pays, he just tries to get refunds without returning the merch.

I've experienced this a couple of times on eBay (buyers gaming the system). Thankfully, the majority are upstanding users.

I will relate one of the most outrageous confrontations with a buyer I have ever had... His status is now "not a registered user" but it took longer than than it should have. The name was revdenniscbg, I was able to look the real person up online. He is a pastor of a congregation in SC. So I was selling an entire set of Buffalo nickels, individually, and while the auction was active with days left, he sent an angry email stating that my nickels were all over-graded, and if I did not cancel all of the auctions he would demand that the congregation (his church) would bid on and win all of them, and then have the ability to leave me NEGS en masse. I blocked him and nothing ever happened, I sold all to happy buyers.

It was quite funny thinking back, but wasn't at the time. His feedback is still viewable on ebay.

Blocking works. My list grows by maybe 10-15 per year.

Mine grows as well but all based upon these forums. Each bidder that gets blocked, gets the page saved as a "favorite link" explaining why the bidder was blocked.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Blocked on all accounts I work for, thanks Russ.

I'd have blocked him just for his spelling. Reading that carp was indeed like a knife in the eye.
Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

His handle is revdenniscbg, though he sealed his own fate with eBay many years ago (no longer a reg. user), his feedback can still be found. He is actually a Reverend from South Carolina I believe, I checked him when this all happened a few years back.

It is people like this that make me appreciate using the option of going to a dealer (at their shop or a show) and selling a coin to them. I don't get "full retail" for the coin, but I don't have to deal with "fool retail" people like Russ did.

I haven't sold anything on eBay for a while. Most of my auctions were successful and problem free, but the 1% that go bad are a pain to deal with. I'm blocking him just in case I do sell on eBay.

I have done a few deals on the BST and really appreciate the people here.

Thanks for the heads up Russ!
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!

Whoah! eBay has now removed every single negative and neutral left by this guy, and there were a bunch. Yet, he isn't NARU'd.

Interesting. I wonder if he pulled this stunt one time too many, and someone was finally able to convince eBay that he was abusing the feedback system.

I was scratching my head during the first couple of pages of this thread, as I didn't see a negative showing under your rating. Now I know why. Glad the neg went away for you.

My assumption is that I wasn't the only seller to report him for feedback extortion. Apparently, enough did that even the drones in T&S could see what was happening.

Obviously new here, but I decided to sell some coins on ebay and have just recently had a very similar situation happen to me. Here is the item number, and you can view all of the information on ebay still; 260738830442. The issue involved an error on my part regarding the item. There is a very light purple toning on the rim of both the obverse and reverse that I could not get to show up in the pictures. I forgot to note this fact about the coin in the listing. I got the item to the buyer very quickly, within 3 days, and he contacted me through ebay about what he called "Tarnish," on the coin. He stated that this negatively impacted the value of the coin, and I misled him with the pictures and description of the coin. I agreed with him that I was at fault, and offered to give him a full refund including return shipping.... Well what he said next stumped me. "I dont return stuff I keep it, just credit me for the difference and we're all good here." I immediately called customer service and asked them how to handle the situation. I told him that I would not issue a credit, but in accordance with ebay policy would offer a full refund and return shipping. He never contacted me back, and then a week later gave me a POSITIVE feedback. I am unsure if he was just testing me because I haven't sold much on ebay, or what. Any thoughts????

Yep, he was testing you. Or, more accurately, fishing for some free money. When you stood your ground, he thought better of it.

This is the reason RUSS is the MAN on ebay.

This AH buyer would have driven me to murder in the first degree.image

In your spare timeimage ...watch what this guy buys and search for it 1-4 weeks later. Eventually his seller ID will show up if he buys anything unusual.

So ebay removed the neg. Does his star ratings still stand? Ebay, in their usual brilliant psychological manipulation, has everyone focused on the neg when it is really the star ratings that matter. I've been trying to recover for months from some low star ratings I got for shipping registered mail (slow shipping). If this guy left a bunch of 1s and those weren't removed, you're stuck at 5% for months--which is just what ebay wants to see. --Jerry

They also removed the DSR's. He dinged as described and communication. Both ratings were removed along with the feedback.
