I have seen that a lot lately. One in particular this weekend was a rifle case that normally sells in the mid $30 range and they sold it for $15 with $18 shipping. I believe that is going on a lot as the fees become higher and higher. (until they get caught, anyway) Jim

Merchants have every right to charge what it actually costs them to take the time to fire up the car, drive to the PO, wait in line, hand over cash, and drive home. A "simple" trip could technically cost that person nearly an hour's worth of time/expenses....easily $12-$20 to many workers. Ebay should have no issues with someone charging a fair wage for their valuable time. Do Ebay employees work for free on the company's time?
People can charge what they want for shipping, and eBay's answer to folks like this was the 1-5 star rating system, including a rating for shipping charges.
More than likely the NARU is a result of his written comments on eBay fees. Saying anything derisive in writing about eBay fees (in a listing or anywhere else on their site) is a policy violation.

Roadrunner, Your argument will fall on deaf ears here. Ebay has brainwashed the buyers into being their own police force, enforcing ebays "fee avoidance" rules like they were losing money from their own pockets. Goose3 will make fun of you if you mention printing costs and the forum basicly wants you to absorb it all as a "cost of doing business".
The seller in this case is absolutely right. Ebay fees are too high for the coin business. Two wrongs don't make a right so I can't fully support him but if ebay didn't have a rule against it, I'd try the same thing--with an explanation to the customer that I was just trying to keep costs down.
Buyers don't realize that ebays high fee costs have to be passed on to them if the seller is to keep doing business there--and many sellers have chosen not to.
This type of 'auction' used to be the norm before eBay started cracking down on sellers about five years ago. I feel a shipping charge that includes for items other than postage, mailing supplies and a small handling fee (less than $1) is disingenuous and makes me wonder what else the seller is not be upfront about. The other expenses should be built into the item price. While it's true eBay makes alot of money from what basically amounts to running a software program on it's servers, it also allows for a seller to have market exposure that is second to none at an entry point that is close to zero. He didn't put that text in all his auctions as some of the auctions he had, in that same time, were "normal" with regards to shipping. Not sure why he would do it for 1, and not another, auction like that.....
Edited to add: I also noticed that they bought the same 1932 quarter 2 weeks earlier on Ebay (for $25 and free shipping), and turned around and resold it for $9 plus $30 shipping. That's a horrible attempt at flipping coins! Hahaha

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
