I told seller I was so thankful to see such rare coins on ebay, I wanted to buy them for my grandkids collection and colege fund, but that some big dealers were bidding against me. He said if I lose, he has others !!!!!! LMAO

  • I wonder if some of the bidders are friends of his?

so you guys are shill bidding his auctions ? i mean, you dont actually intend to complete the transaction if you win do you ? it is comical to me how people can justify breaking rules so long as a few others condone it.

Save his emails and when these ridiculous auctions get pulled you can forward them to eBay and have him booted for good!

What's at least as comical is that eBay hasn't shut the auction down after probably a dozen reportings that these are not genuine coins from concerned collectors. The bidding has become irrelevant, IMHO.

it's been my experience that there is a do now immediately list at ebay and a do later list. This was reported with
many days to go so what's the hurry? Maybe they are just letting the guy hang out and enjoy his ride only to pull
the auction in the last hours. Let him get his hopes up and then dash them into the ground! They might have a
    sense of humor, too!

    " YOU SUCK " Awarded 5/18/08
  • Have you guys seen this auction lately? the high bid is up to $75k+ for the three fake Barbers -this is the message i got from ebay after reporting these items to them ,guess they will let the auction run to make their money since "their coin experts" do not know crap-image

Message I received from ebay support::RE: CE73542 Response to your email from eBay's Prohibited Items Team (coins and stamps) (KMM42551723V22964L0KM)

    Dear eBay Member,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to suspicious coin listings.

Because eBay does not employ or train its Trust & Safety Customer
Support Representatives to be experts in the area of coins and currency,
we rely on expert opinions from knowledgeable people as well as reliable
    third party organizations.

Your report will be reviewed by a group of members that comprise a
community watch group for coin auctions. They then confer amongst
themselves and either agree or disagree that the listings are
problematic. If it is agreed that a listing(s) is fraudulent or
improperly described, the listing(s) is then forwarded to eBay Trust and
    Safety for removal.

Please be sure to check our Prohibited, Questionable & Infringing Items
pages for information on eBay listing policies and guidelines:

So you think it's more honorable to stand by and let someone be victimized by obvious fakes? Besides, shill bids can only be placed by the consignor or someone working with the consignor.

Of course, if eBay is looking to delete a counterfeit sale and then they see very active bidding, they might think twice. They may think it is actually a sale of good coins. And, they want those end-of-sale fees too!

I agree that bidding up may prevent others from buying, but it might give someone on the fence a reason to feel confident it is legit.

I would be shocked if Ebay goes through such a thought process. Keep in mind, that if/when they delay shutting down an auction, they risk the possibility of the seller ending the listing early, in order to sell to the current high bidder.

    Update

I received three emails from Ebay telling me the standard form letter that they cancelled the auctions.

I also received two more emails from seller . He states he had cancelled the auctions because he had a very serious cash buyer, who then backed out, so the coins are still available for me to buy off Ebay.

any thoughts? Should I forward them all to Ebay? I think thats the best move to make here as I was high bidder on all 3 I am pretty sure, when they ended.
