NITON XFR Analyzers in NYC area

Hi All,

Does anyone here know of a company or individual in the NYC area who has a Niton XFR Analyzer and would be willing to help me, for some fee of course, to identify the exact composition of a few small metal items (not coins)? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Best wishes,
Eric

Edited for spelling.

    Hi,

Thanks for responding. image I see I spelled it wrong - XFR XRF..well...I did try several lead-testing companies and scrappers - so far they will only test if I want to sell for scrap or have some industrial or commercial connection. I have three historic items - two known and one to be verified. I want to get all three tested. All three would fit in a small handbag.

NGC does metal composition testing on coins. If your items are small enough, I wouldn't be surprised if they could handle them for you. I think they charge $75/each, or roughly like that. Give them a call and see...

You might also ask local art or history museums; the larger museums likely have access to this capability (either in-house or through local analytical firms).

  • If you absolutely run out of options locally, my local scrapyard is run by a guy in my coin club and he'll do XRF for $5 a pop.
