Picked up a small collection here locally last week (Las Vegas). Seller lives in my neighborhood and
had a bunch of silver to sell. Had a great time and learned he was from Ohio and turning 90 this week.
After making a deal for his old silver coins I saw two displays of Indian arrowheads hanging on the
dining room wall. Nicely done and about a dozen points per display. Asked if he wanted to sell them
and where they came from and this is what he said.
Got them off the farm as a kid. Said that when they plowed in the rain, the points just glistened and they
were easy to see. There was a spot down by "the creek" that had most of them. Seems like the Indians
would camp there and make the points as they often found handfuls of broken and unfinished points and
shards.
He asked if I wanted to see the other stuff that they found on the farm. You bet I did! Well, he dug around
the garage for about 5 minutes and brought a box back into the house. Lots of neat stuff including a partial
arrow with the arrowhead still attached. Small point and he said it was for real small game or birds. Neat
stuff and then in the box was this half dime! I pointed to it and he pulled it out and said that that it too was
a dug coin from along the creek! Seems the camp was not only good for the Indians but good for the locals
and kids too! Damaged like elmeister's from the plow but still a neat find. Just wish it had been my find!
Didn't get the displaysimage
