Based on the bit of chatter on the cheek, and the hit on eagle's breast........64 would be my guess.

    I'm in at 63.

  • Its no higher than 62 due to the weak strike but since you asked "they" probably graded it 64.

I am with the AU58 crowd. Is that a 97-O? Looks like a bag mark in the mint mark location, so it is a little tough to tell. Nice looking coin though.

Full luster on cheek, typical lousy strike for a 97-0. Lower left obv field a bit scuffy for a choice MS grade.

    MS62-63.

Would need a better strike and more appeal imo to fetch the big bucks of 64. More than triples in price from 63 to 64. Even the jump from 61 to 63 is huge. Maybe it is only 58-61.

Another similar Teletrade 97-0 - don't open this link until you've guessed

Sometimes Teletrade pics make it difficult to tell the true quality of the coin. I agree it looks like a typical weak strike for a 97-O. But, the reverse looks like it has wear on it in the field (and the obverse fields), so I will have to stick with my AU58 assessment. image

My 97-O has a strong strike with similar type wear in the fields and it is an AU58. Really it should be a 59+, but oh so close to the next tick.

As usual DennisH & Rampage are spot on.

    Thanks for guessing everyone!

This is a tough date and hard to find in choice and higher MS.

I'm curious to see its luster when it comes home.
