Counterfeit 1912 Barber Quarter
I bought a very small group of 90% silver today and in it was this coin. Being that it was low grade and a 1912, I didn't investigate it further until a few minutes ago. It fell out of my hand onto my desk and didn't sound like silver at all. Looking at it closer it's all cracked up like a mud puddle after it dries out. There are a couple of chunks of metal missing from the rims between 12:00-3:00 looking at the obverse. There is a slight bend in it between 5:00-6:00 on the obverse which is worn on the highspot.

sorry about the small images. my camera battery was dying and had to shoot these without any functions available other than aim and shoot.

The reverse is spotted everywhere in the fields with tiny raised dots of metal.
I would be interested in the value also. I don't keep up with these counterfeits like I should.

<< <i>contemporary barbers are very collectible to some people, worth every bit of what someone will pay for it >>
that's what everything is worth isn't it?......
ttt for the folks who didn't see it the first time.
