Into die varieties for 30 years now, and this was a first...

Got an email from a police officer from a different state today who was investigating a vehicle break-in where a package from a grading company was stolen. He saw that some of the documentation that the collector provided to them had been printed from my website, so he contacted me via email to find out values for the coins so they could verify the severity of the crime.

I used Google to call the PD to make sure it wasn't a hoax, and talked to the officer who emailed me. He and I muddled through a list that contained a number of graded Lincoln cent die varieties. Made me feel like an "expert witness" in an odd sort of way. Anyhow, I pulled out the stops in gathering their information - used a few different sites, checked values against current sales, even called the attributer of CONECA on his cell for info on one of them.

All in all I helped the law and it was a good day!

If I may ask, what types of Lincoln varieties had been stolen? Wouldn't want to buy into a lot that matches closely to this group!! Thanks, Shag

Nothing odd about the feeling. You were an expert witness ... just one that was free. image
