How would you value barber dime?

shorecollshorecoll Posts: 5,447 ✭✭✭✭✭
No pics so I know this is tricky.

I have an 1892 Barber dime toner that "would be" MS-64'ish but...it's ex jewelry. It has 4 bad rim scars where a mount was. I guess they mounted it and never wore it as there are no marks, but how would you value such a beast?

Thanks in advance.

Damage is damage..............I would probably net it down to EF or so.
Need a Barber Half with ANACS photo certificate. If you have one for sale please PM me. Current Ebay auctions

It sounds like a coin I wouldn't buy. It's a very common date so there is no reason to use it as a space filler.

If selling it I would knock it down to a F12 price and try to get rid of it quickly and with no returns.

I would throw it on eBay 99c No Reserve.

Very common date, and unlikely to bring a lot of money in an auction. I agree with the 99 cents, no reserve bit on ebay. It actually might bring more if it's still in the mount because someone may want to use it for jewelry.

let it sell at 50% melt and make it up on shipping

  • Bargain box. Depending upon how massive the scars are probably xf bid + 1/4th the spread to AU or if theyre really bad between vf and xf money. I sell stuff like this all the time in my net boxes and it goes fast. I sell tons of problem coins wholesale. Problem stuff sells easier than problem free material a lot of times.
