Mint estimates 2007 W platinum Proof "Frosted Freedom" mintage

Coin World is reporting that the US mint "believes" the release of the following number of 2007 W platinum eagle proofs with the "Frosted Freedom" variety:

$100 one ounce - 12 coins
$50 half ounce - 21 coins
$25 quarter ounce - 21 coins
$10 tenth ounce - no coins

Frosted freedom strikes were the result of initial pre-production minting before the decision was made for the final approved coin to have the word "FREEDOM" mirrored to make it stand out. Mint official states Frosted variety coins were "inadvertently placed in the production stream while preparing for an internal audit."

When gold and silver move together, it signals the coming end of fiat money.

This sounds like these should be considered patterns instead of an error then.

Perhaps "Trial Strike" would be a more appropriate description.
Not sure yet what to call them.

a variety being called a "pre-production piece" by the US Mint. TD is dead on.
