Legend Numismatics

So it's sometime in the 1990's at the Central States Show and I'm at Legend's table looking over their Morgan dollars. I see a really sharp 1880-CC in MS66 that looks very nice for the grade and I ask George how much. He tells me they got that coin from a crackout dealer and it was actually tried a couple times for a 67 before they bought it. We make a deal and I pay him in new crisp $100.00 bills and he writes me up a receipt. I also tell him I am looking for a really PQ 1882-S in MS66 and he tells me he doesn't have one at the moment. So we chat for a few minutes and I'm just about to walk away and George calls me back and tells me I accidentally gave him one $100.00 too many (they were all kinda stuck together) and hands me back a $100.00
So now it's about 1 hr. later and I'm at the front of the room by the entrance grabbing a free Coin World and about to leave, and George walks up to me and says "hey Howard, are you still looking for a really sharp 82-S in 66?" I tell him yes but I didn't see one at the show I really liked. He pulls a slab out of his pocket and it's a super nice 82-S in PCGS 66 and exactly the kind of coin I was looking for. I ask him how much and he quotes me a very reasonable price for the coin and I pay him in cash on the spot and thank him for thinking of me.
How's that for top notch dealer service and honesty?

BTW, what prompted you to relate this story now?
I just remembered it because I was at the bank the other day looking through stuff and I still have that 82-S dollar.

So what? The OP is a collector who has no affiliation with Legend, and wanted to mention a positive experience.
I really like George but like Laura's energy and her understanding of how picky I am even more.
But then again, I like RWB the best of all!
Get me out of here!!! I am drowning in tax returns!!!!!!!!!

After 14 years I wonder if it made a 67 holder?

"The coin business is still a place where a sense of integrity is palpable, continuing, and prevalent. Acts of honesty and humanism transcend time and are still worth remembering today even if they happened a decade ago. Perhaps by revisiting the good acts of the PAST we'll keep in mind that the majority of the PRESENT is good, fun, and fair. That is why we enjoy the hobby, the history, and this place."
Oh . . . sheeez. That wasn't actually quoting anyone. But anyway, nice OP and there are a few above who 'get it'. Let's have some fun, and I have to admit, I am drawn to this hobby in part because of the ladies and gentlemen who would move heaven and earth to make sure their word (anf their check) was 'good' at all times.
Cash isn't king. Integity is. That's what we've got going for us.

Your point being...

Good one, Jay.
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

As for the criticism, no good deed goes unpunished as we say at HCF, right?

<< <i>Isn't an 82-S in 66 known as dreck, today? >>
No! It is a widget.
This is dreck; I call it BHT; bullet hole toning!
