NEW QUARTER BOOK

I know we have heard this before, but Quarter Collector tells me from a hidden source the new early quarter book is soon to be out. Anyone else have some details on this?

Even more mysterious is the so-called deluxe edition of said book.
It is supposed to contain plates of the Col. E. H. Green collection, with the pages gilt in the Colonel's own blood.
The tome is apparently printed on the very rare Rorireasis papyrii, which blooms only once every 7 years, or whenever a new Browning variety is discovered, whichever comes first.
Brad Karoleff told me it would be priced at $750,000.

that's good stuff!
this book better be able to walk on water, attribute varieties by itself, and negotiate rare varieties for type prices, in order avoid the perception of being Scooped by Tomkins

"March" by itself is a bit too ambiguous at least for me and I am a fan, so if I may be so bold to ask the follow up question, Which March? >>
Why, March of 2038 of course, it is the anniversary of the end of the series.

When I was down at his shop a month back or so he told me that mine would be free - some chump was gonna pay $750k for his and that'd more than cover mine...
I was able to look through the working copy in December and it looks like it'll be well worth the money - well not Coinosaurus money - but the actual issue price

Yes......I heard they also tried to show the working copy to Eric Newman. But it did not work out because Eric had not yet been born
Anyway, I won't do that.............in fact, I remember when I visited Russ Logan in October of 2000. He and his wife were very nice to me. Russ encouraged me to write articles for the Journal. Russ said, "Don't worry about others, enjoy, study, research, pick up what you can and write to the best of your knowledge." "Maybe one day you can make a difference." With that, I encourage you all to add to the community.................if you need help, I'd be happy to assist.
Ok, maybe I have more to jab at you guys:
Remember, while you are busy on the forum, I'm busy obtaining some nice pieces tucked away! Oh, I already have the new book! It's here, right next to me. Yes, as we speak it's sitting right here. I have it open to look again at all the nice pictures of 1818 B-9 clashed arrows section. It's great! I can see pictures of 16 different examples-8 with clashing and 8 without. I know by looking at the pictures which example is nice for the grade. Oh, and on the section with the 1821 B-6's! Pretty nice. I love looking at the high grade color pictures since most all of us know how to atrribute quarters, right? Oh, I really like the 1828 B-3's, (there is a mesage on that page) and Oh, I also like the section with the 31 B-7's, Oh, well you know, you just go ahead and turn to the page you like and Oh, have you seen.................no?
Yours is at the binders.....
Just remember, the first with the wise cracks are usually the last on the list. And remember, I know most of you, what examples you need and who you need to obtain them-even the old timers I've sold to in the past.

Steve's book is good, but it's nice that this new one will be ready in about another month and a half. I've seen it in different versions and it looks excellent, so I know I'm looking forward to it. There will be more pictures of die states and condition census coins in this book. I believe this book will have the most comprehensive effort to date on condition census bust quarters by variety, and it will be pretty darned current despite SAM123's comments to the contrary.
One thing that I have trouble with in Steve's book is the attribution process because I don't think I can memorize the quickfinder information. When I go to attribute a variety, I may have 8 to 15 lines of attribution points in all CAPS to decipher. That sometimes bogs me down and makes me go to the Breen update of Browning's book because I find it easier to quickly read Browning's description wth Breens updates in small text. The Breen/Browning book is smaller and I can easily flip to the other varieties to see the differences and figure out the variety, but Steve's book has better pictures. I'm hoping the new book will straighten everything out for me.
If you collect and attribute bust quarters, or just love bust material, I can't see any reason not to buy this new book when it becomes available. You won't be disappointed & I'm waiting to send in my payment!

<< <i>Go ahead, take your shots and have your fun..................just don't tell me you already finished with Tompkins book? You act like your cup is empty..........There is so much to read and digest there is no way you got it all-have you? I like his book. I go over it from time to time and re-read what he has to say. But by the questions on the forum, I'd say some of you still need Uncle Steve to tell you what die marriage you have? Has it come to that? Start writing some articles.............stick your neck out and write something of substance. You're not affraid? Last thing you want is a seasoned quarter collector to set you straight, huh? There is my jab.

BC - just giving you a hard time! Seriously, I am really looking forward to this book & know it will be well worth the wait.
You guys were not the only ones who wanted this book finished 4 years ago and will never know what kind of sacrifice it took to get this out. All in all, I am pleased with the outcome of the book.

about 10,000 times better than its predecessors. I could finally attribute a bust quarter with 100%
certainty. Now there is something even better about to come out? Outstanding!
