1869/69 IHC

I think at one time this variety had a line in the PCGS Price Guide, no? What happened to it?

  • Anyone? I'm needing a price-line on this one in a PCGS slab.

If I were faced with that problem, I would use Heritage auction archives.

  • Oh, I'm looking over those, too, Mike. I'm wondering why the Price Guide isn't tracking it, anymore, too, though (...along with what, if anything, I should make of that).

You might try contacting Jaime at PCGS, he should have the answer. Another source to try is Coin World's Coin Values and the Gray Sheet, though Grey Sheet prices haven't kept up with current values of 1869/69s.

  • What is the grade, I will look it up on the grey sheet.
  • Texas, how did you know I don't have one of those? Must be something I said. image

Seriously, though, if you have the time, I could use retail values on EF40 through AU58, and MS63 and MS64. image
  • MY CDN is a few months old, but here ya go

    Bid/Ask
    XF $520+/$570
    AU 675+/$740
    MS-60 $785+/$860
    MS-63 $900+/$975
  • Greysheet/Newsletter, that's a good start. Thx!
  • KurtDog, what other prices do you need? Or from where?

I always look at L&C coins selling prices as they are retail "slightly more". Here are they sell prices for the 69/69, they have them in

    AG $90
    AG+ $100
    G $150
    VF $725
    CH. VF $750

They move quite a few so there prices must be near market + a little more.
  • Whoa, those must be some VFs!

I could use some market data on MS63/64, specifically. Just got back from lccoins.com, BTW, and looking over their IHC varieties. Good link; bookmarked it!
  • I think PennyLady has handled a few, but of course Rick Snow would be the person to ask. The best I could do would be heritage auction archives. I am sure Charmy or Rick will sound in at some point.

Edited: I see Charmy already did, you might want to PM Rick.
  • Maybe if he doesn't see this I'll give him a nudge. image

The greysheet prices given you were a bit outdated in the circ grades. They did not jump in the Feb listing from Jan,
but jumped multiple months prior to that - here you go:
    Bid/Ask
    115/125 G
    225/245 VG
    395/435 F
    520/570 VF
    635/700 XF
AU and MS prices are the same as previously posted.

As I've posted multiple times, this is a darn tough coin to locate in grades above VG. I recognized it as a sleeper in the higher circ grades years ago, but only acquired one measely coin after years of searching at shows. Make sure you choose one that has a nice bold
