San Jose Show 2011 1/28-29

I'm going.
Always looking for my Barber Halves, but I'm going to dabble in Seated Quarters finally.
In fact I won't leave the joint without a couple.

We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.

After reading the title of this thread I will have that song playing in my head all afternoon
<< <i>It's a great show!

Not when it was at the fairgrounds. Who could forget the uninsulated metal shack, jet engine loud ventilation fan, smell of livestock and $10 fee to park in the mud? The move from Parkside Hall to the fairgrounds cost them around 30 dealers (including myself) to stop setting up at that show.
The decision to move the show from the fairgrounds to the Doubletree Hotel was arguably the best decision the San Jose Coin Club has made in a very long time.

In floor space, yes. In number of dealers it was marginal. The fairgrounds location had less than 10 more tables than the current location.

I hope I can make it to the doubletree this year; last year I got an awesome city-scape medal!
but even that one was a good show. Then they moved it to the hotel near the airport, and
people complained that there wasn't room for all the dealers, and some of the dealers got
stiffed in the lottery or however they allotted the tables.
Well, you can't please everyone. If it's not financially viable to do it at Parkside, then some
other secure venue must be found. They could do it in the cafeteria of the middle school
around the corner of my house, but that would not be very secure. Gotta do it somewhere.
Parkside had parking problems, the Fairgrounds were dirty, and the hotel is not quite big
enough.
But still, it's a good show. I would never try to make the case that it won't be a good show
this year because two years ago it was held at a substandard location. It's always been one
of my favorite shows, because it's relatively close for me, many of my favorite dealers are
there, and I never leave empty handed.
