Congrats. I did think thay would lose, but beating an expansion team by 2 touchdowns is no big deal.

Beating a playoff team by more is a big deal, like what the skins did!
    Looking for High-End Football Cards.

Just wait til Mcnabb gets his leg broke like Namath. The Eagles are over rated. Getting all those DB's so they can conpete with the Rams. Clowns

You guys beat a team of backups with your QB's competing for a starting job. Look at Shockey. A beast. I hope he catches 80-90 this season(and every season).

Giants suck. Some reasons are the strife between players and coaches, loss of 13 players from last year, no depth on either line, etc. - Last year was the year of the boomerang in NY and it will continue. image

And, what about Jason Sehorn? Most over-rated player in football. Makes 1 great play for every 10 horrible plays. You can't be inconsistent as a DB.

ski-Such bad language! If ya didn't know Skins/Giants fans will ALWAYS go at it. Just like Red Sox/Yankee fans, Yankee/Braves fans, and Denver/Oakland fans. I just think it's funny when a team proves people wrong.

Derrick-don't even remind me of last season. Dayne didn't step up, heck no one on the o-side stepped up. Now hopefully Shockey and a wide out(Toomer?) will step up and lead. The defense will prolly be led by big Strahan. I'm hoping for atleast a 8-8 record.

Well...sorry, but that's my job to remind you...image

    1) They have no one at RB. Their best RB is a broken down has-been who picked up 3.1 yards per carry last year, and he is backed up by a national joke and a rookie. Dayne is a fat a$$ who needs to lose some major weight...

    2) Their WRs suck. Their best WR is a career backup who caught only 63 passes for 800 yards last year as a number 1. The next best caught 40, and the rook chipped in 20. An anemic passing attack.

    3) Their defense has allowed an average of 114 yards rushing per game for the last two years - and from that pathetic performance they have lost their MLB and are replacing him with a guy who couldn't cut it at OLB.

    4) They are weak on the interior offensive and defensive lines

    5) they have no depth at MLB, RB, S, DT, DE

    Nuff said...image

    Derrick,
Take the liberty to look at all of my posts about the Giants(not betting, but as a team). The Giants have 2 guys they gotta get rid of. Collins and Sehorn. Sehorns always hurt, not a in your face type DB that the Giants need. I don't like him at all. Collins, well, he's a drunk

And, another thing I should add on to that...speaking of Dayne and a few other things...Ron Dayne's a$$. It the only thing in their entire home state of New Jersey that won't fit between the gap in Strahan's teeth. They suck and they have 6 starters that will be FAs after this season. Ron Dayne's a$$...They made him lose weight last year because it became so big it developed it's own gravitational pull and was affecting the tides in NY harbor. image

Among their FAs are their best player on D in Strahan and their most important player on O Collins. Ron Dayne's a$$...He was stopped by the NJ state police and was searched and they found 200 pounds of crack in his pants. They also found two small dime bags and a tiny joint. hehe ...They have people named Bober Whittle and Sorbet on their O line last year. lol...image Ron Dayne's a$$...To make extra income they rent out Dayne's pants[known as "The Big Pants" among the giants]to store the inflated Goodyear blimp in when Giants games are on national TV.

    Just a lil humor...image

beating an expansion team is not much of an accomplishment... but i must say giving up 17 points is a disappointment... 2nd team or not... that just shows the lack of depth the Midgets have...

and D, it's one of the few times, but i do agree with u... the Midgets are a joke and Sehorn is a b1tch... he needs to retire and become a model for Calvin Klein... what a pretty boy... Strahan is the only player on the Midgets i even remotely enjoy watching...

8-8 this season? lol c'mon man be realistic... the Midgets should finish last in the division and i'd be surprised if they won more than 5 games...

Thito-You guys(skins) had your QB's playing for the #1 spot. Thats why there passing was so good(Sage was dissapointing though).

Like Madden said last night, the NFC east will be tighter than anyone thinks.

"8-8 this season? lol c'mon man be realistic... the Midgets should finish last in the division and i'd be surprised if they won more than 5 games"

Every season people doubt the Giants. Every season.
Your a skins fan, for some reason beyond my knowledge(and every sports analyst), you think the Skins are going to the playoffs. This is a rebuilding year for the Giants and next year will be one as well. I think a 8-8 season is very possible, the O-line is young(and inexperienced) but is faster than years past, which will help Tiki or Ron get to the outside or break through the middle.

Be realistic? The Skins have 2nd and 3rd stringers for QB's. I don't care who you have for a coach, remember, people can be great in college and be horrible in the pros. Spurrier did great things in college, no doubt. He's still unproven. The Skins were a total dissapiontment the last 2 seasons. With all the hype, everyone said the Skins were gonna win the NFC East and challenge the Rams. Bull$h*t. Look what happened.

Remember, the Skins left in there starting O-line to play against the 49ers fringe players and roster hopefuls. Thats the only reason they won 38-7. Look at the NFL power rankings. The Skins are sitting at #27 for good reason.

    Derrick-

1.) Actually Tiki Barber averaged 5.2 yds/carry and Ron Dayne Averaged 3.8yds/carry. Tiki only carried the ball 166 times and Dayne only carried it 180 times. I dunno about you, but those are good numbers. Imagine if Tiki carried 356 times like Stephen Davis did.

2.) Amani Toomer caught 72 passes for 1054 yards last season, which is 14.6 yds per catch. Ike Hilliard caught 52 passes for 659 yards, which is 12.7 yds per catch. Tiki Barber also caught 72 passes for 577 yards last season, which is 8.0 yds per catch.

3.) Derrick, do you have any idea what your talking about. 114 yards rushing allowed, yeah right. look at the stats.
Last season, the NY Giants gave up an average of 96.6 yds rushing a game. Which is 3rd best in the NFL. Only Chicago and St. Louis stopped the run better. While Washington ranked 11th best in the NFL, they gave up an average of 116.8 yds rushing a game.

In the 2000 season, the NY Giants led the NFL in stopping the run, giving up an average of 72.3 yds rushing per game. The closest other team was Green Bay, who's defense gave up an average of 101.1 yds rushing per game. The Washington Redskins ranked #11 and there defense gave up an average of 115.8 yds rushing per game.

Who cares what they did in the 2000 season. We're talking about the 2002 and the future of this team. You have some good points, but your still in a hole without any water when it comes to the Giants. The players they lost from last year weren't very good. Two of them were in the PB but the over riding point is the players who will replace most of them were on the roster last year. They didn't bring in new people. So in the eyes of the Giants coaches...the people who will replace those lost clearly aren't as good as the players lost or they would have started over them last year.

Let's see if the folks replacing Brown Stone Parker and Cross can make holes wide enough to Dayne's a$$ through so he can get his huge 3.8 per. Let's see if they can keep immobile Collins alive all year. Let's see if Barber makes it out of training camp or if Strahan gets his revenge.(which has already been an issue...but would love to see it erupt)...You could be looking at 2-14 Shawn...because this team clearly isn't as good as last year's 7-9 team.

the only reason I put up the 00' stats(just in the run stopping catergory) was because of what you said...

"3) Their defense has allowed an average of 114 yards rushing per game for the last two years - and from that pathetic performance they have lost their MLB and are replacing him with a guy who couldn't cut it at OLB"

Well, I proved you wrong. You said they gave up on average "114 yards rushing per game for the last two years". Well they were #1 in stopping the run in 00' and #3 in stopping the run in 01'.

2-14??? You didn't know any of the right stats(avg. yds/carry, recieving, and there great defense)

Are you nuts? Look at it by stats and there schedule which is(I will post Loss or Win if I think they will lose or win in parentheses)....
    1 Sep 5 San Francisco ESPN 8:30 PM(Loss)
    2 Sep 15 at St. Louis FOX 4:05 PM(Loss)
    3 Sep 22 Seattle FOX 4:15 PM(Win)
    4 Sep 29 at Arizona FOX 4:05 PM(Win)
    5 Oct 6 at Dallas FOX 1:00 PM(Win)
    6 Oct 13 Atlanta FOX 1:00 PM(Win)
    7 BYE WEEK
    8 Oct 28 at Philadelphia ABC 9:00 PM(Loss)
    9 Nov 3 Jacksonville ESPN 8:30 PM(Win)
    10 Nov 10 at Minnesota FOX 1:00 PM(Win)
    11 Nov 17 Washington FOX 1:00 PM(Win)
    12 Nov 24 at Houston FOX 4:15 PM(Win)
    13 Dec 1 Tennessee CBS 1:00 PM(Loss)
    14 Dec 8 at Washington FOX 1:00 PM(Win)
    15 Dec 15 Dallas FOX 4:15 PM(Win)
    16 Dec 22 at Indianapolis FOX 1:00 PM(Loss)
    17 Dec 28 Philadelphia(Loss)

I put the Loss and Win's in by the NFL Latest Power Rankings and previous games against the Giants. They've got a really easy schedule down the early stretch(Seattle, Arizona, Dallas, and Atlanta) and late stretch(Jax, Minnesota, Washington, Houston).

So getting a 8-8 record would be a good estimate, because you never know who will be suprises this season.

How is it not as good as last seasons? Yes, alot of players left, with Armstead, Jerevicous, and Garnes being the best that left. Thats a older(but still good) MLB, a #3 WR, and a S. The rest of the players weren't great that left. We also got Shockey, who's being called the best tight end in 20 years(You saw what he could do last night).
IF(its a big if) Collins had a season like 2000, and with Shockey thats very possible, then I could see the Giants getting 10+ wins.

How did you come up with that the Giants may end up 2-14? Look at the Schedule!

But hey, the Giants never get hyped, other teams do and then there a dissapointment. The Giants have a solid team, a good set of wide outs, thunder&lightning, a very promising TE, and a very good defense, I won't use the word great since this season they could drop to #5-10 on the run defense, they won't drop further than #10 though, but being in the Top 3 the past 2 seasons and everyone still said the Giants are horrible on defense I don't get it. You keep on saying how bad they are, prove it. You say Dayne is huge, but he's 20 pounds lighter than Rickey Williams.

Last season the NY Giants were rated...
#5 on Overall Offense, there production wont drop any with the addition of Shockey.
#7 on Rushing Offense, which will most likely stay the same with more passes being thrown
#5 on Passing Offense, which will only go up with the additioin of Shockey
#8 on Overall Defense, might slip to #10 at worst with the loss of Garnes, Armstead, and a couple others
#12 on Passing Defense, but this area won't slip
#3 on Rushing Defense, might drop a spot or two because of the loss of Armstead

So overall, the Giants have a good team. Yes a couple of key losses but Armsteads production wasn't Pro Bowl worthy, and it was smart to get rid of him and his hefty contract.
