Some newps for me

Burnt a hole in my pocket last night at our coin club meeting. One U.S $5 gold and 2 rare darksiders. The gold is generic but it's gold I can afford on my budget. Figures I would have to pick something expensive to collect. As for the darkside coins, this is something new for me. I never thought I'd shell out some good money for foreign coins but I could not pass on the Martin Luther coin as I'm Lutheran. As for the Korean 1 yang, I liked the looks of it, and the fact that it's a rare coin sealed the deal for me.

All three nice. I saw your Darksiders over there.

Watch out for the German coins- they can be habit forming.

Still, it's not as expensive a habit as US gold!

PS- it just dawned on me that your Luther coin is 1933. Boy, talk about a pivotal year in Germany, huh? The "G" mintmark is Karlsruhe, if you didn't already know. If you're Krauseless, I can give you the catalog stats for that and your Korean piece.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

  • Nope, not Krauseless. All I know is that the G mint minted 12,000 pieces along with the D mint but for some reason the G mint mark commands more premium. As for the Korean coin, I know nothing except that it's pretty hard to find. If you have some information to share, I would gladly accept it. image

I like the gold as well. I usually cringe a little when I hear 61 but yours looks very nice.
  • Agreed, 61's normally look pretty bad but this one looks better then the typical 61. It's properly graded though. The coin in hand exhibits a nice frosty type luster.
