Busted!
The War Department saw my Gettysburg piece on my desk and asked if it was new. My standard reply to that is "I've had this awhile."
I knew what was coming next so when that question came I said "it was under $1000." She knew that if I admitted to that amount, that the actual price was probably at least twice what I told her. She replied that sitting in a little piece of plastic was her new gas range. When I thought about the other piece I just acquired, which was more money, I thought it might be wise to go with the new range so I said that we could go looking tomorrow. Not necessary she said , she knew what she wanted and where it was. I thought I had put the Gettysburg in my desk drawer. I think I was set up, cookies anyone?

you lost me for a minute, but I finally caught on. Shame on you for setting yourself up. You have to be more careful.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
It'll cost ya......
You'll still be way ahead, won't you?

first... the always correct "yes dear"
Second " I know how much you want that new gas range, so thinking about selling something to get what you want...yes dear I luv you!"

And the chef. Cooking for you is one of the good things about having a wife. Appreciate it. --jerry
Mine will hand me just delivered bubble mailers, I set them aside until she is gone. Sometimes she just hovers around, "Well, aren't you going to open it?" Drives them crazy.

Have voluntarily curtailed nearly all coin buying since the birth of our little ones, in favor of paying ongoing bills, fixing up house, funding college accounts, etc.
However, recently sold some stock in order to fix the roof, do some landscaping, get a new gas range, among other home improvements... and thought to myself,
"hey, self, budget these projects right, and you may be able to buy a coin or two next year!"

She fooled me recently when I came home with two nice XF CBH's when she said, "I bet you had to spent $300 to get those, didn't you?" I just said, "yep". She just replied, "I hope you know what you're doing!"
I just said, "So do I!"

The big drawback is that when you lose power for three days, as happened in February here, you can't eat anything warm. That kind of stinks.
I stay busted around my house. A few weeks ago i owned up to buying a AK 47, so far i have used that excuse on the AR15 she found under the couch, the Hi Point 995 and the other AR 15 in my office. As far as i know she has not looked in the safe. ( i had to give her the combo cause i kept forgetting it) It will be a real bad day when she looks in there, i dread coming home on that day.....
I bought a canon T2i last week, i have not figured out how to leave that out to be found. Once found i will act like i had it for years......
Ah she does not really care, i just do not want her finding my rat hole money.

AK47, AR15...HP 995, another AR15.....well, at least you know what the outcome will be if discovered

Right or wrong, coin purchases are at least a way to hold onto your money for long terms. If we spent 4 K on a vacation...the money is gonezo. spend 4 K on a coin and at least your money is 'still there'.
<< <i>In my world there are no Departments, or Czars for that matter. I'm a dictator and have been for the better part of 11 years now. As a result I can leave coins laying around any place, any time I want, without fear of being busted. >>
Divorced, eh?

In some ways it does have it's advantages.
I ended up having to redo the entire kitchen a few years ago...
get an electric. We had a gas stove growing up, got an electric in 02. Would never go back to gas, the electric does so much better a job it's not funny.
No serious chef would choose electric over gas. Electric is too hard to control, slow to heat, etc.
Lance.
Just speaking from experience.

i was fortunate enough to retain most of the spoils(coinage) of the (divorce) war.
Back in 2001 my wife asked me what i wanted for my anniversary present, i told her a yamaha raptor. Nothing else was said and i think it was the actual day she said to go get one and write a check. So i did. A week later she called in a slight panic, saying she had to have money out of the business account. Turned out she tought ATV's cost about 1000 bucks and not 7500. She asked now.
