Just received my 5-oz ATB bullion coins from APMEX

GeomanGeoman Posts: 2,491 ✭✭✭
Mailman just delivered my 5-oz ATB coins I ordered form APMEX. Inside, there was a copy of the email they sent out to all customers that ordered explaining the new limit of one set. Also, there was a check in the package for the refund. The front of the coin looks like a coster in my opinion, the back with the NP design looks good though. Nice packaging job by APMEX. Any others get theirs yet?

Will it grade a 70 by ngc? ........

Nope, a few specks here and there. Don't have a camera with me now, so I can't post pictures. There are a lot of die polish lines on the reverse of each coin.

    Probably 68 in my opinion.

I have a feeling that on these bullion strikes, the PCGS 70's are going to be astronomical this time next year. If there are any.

What was their final sell price after the mint spanked them on mark up?

  • Just got mine, they look pretty dull! Almost look like a silver version of the chocolate candy that looks like gold coins. Packaging and refund check enclosed as well.

APMEX did a nice job packing.
Coins are nice, the holders are have the scratches.
Edge lettering is good but there is a purposeful line on each coin side from the edge lettering process.

    Geoman,
That's cool. I think you're the first I've heard from that's actually received the set.

Mine were just delivered. I'm too lazy to take photos. They do look just like everyone elses. I believe they will be difficult to get a "70" grade on. Various scratches etc. They are kinda cool to look at.

hold one in your hand and take a pic so we can get an idea of the scale/size of the thing. Is it reeded?
  • How long do you think it will be before these things get gold-plated and end up hawked on TV?

That would really screw up the edge lettering!

The relief on these is supposedly light due to its relative thinness. No working hub. Too bad about the polishing lines.

Actually they did it on the 1992 commemorative dollar coin and I thought it came out very cool looking:
