My dad is a KW vet. Interestingly the TV series lasted like 4 times as long as the skirmish. Those familiar with the original movie will recall that this song was part of the "Military's best dentist's" bout with depression in the flick. Although the movie was conisdered a dark comedy, this song represents the dark side of war and depression and I believe is an appropos ode to our recent fallen YN.

I disagree. Melancholy is a difficult feeling to portraty. My Dad did his service in the Korean War from '51-'53 and he saw lot's of this. And the MASH theme was his all-time favorite. I'm thankful for his "melancholy" and his decision to persevere that I am here as a result.
