I am very pleased to announce today that noted numismatic professional Chris Napolitano has joined Bowers and Merena Auctions as president.
Many of you may know him as the president and CEO of Summit Rare Coins, Inc., which he founded in 1989. Under his leadership for more than two decades, the company handled in excess of $250 million in rare coins, including many classic American rarities, and he attended every major show and auction during that period. In 2001, Chris co-founded American Rare Coins and Collectibles, which he helped to grow into a $20 million business. Chris belongs to many important numismatic organizations and is a Lifetime Member of the American Numismatic Association.
Throughout his notable career Chris has personally handled about 80 of the coins featured in the popular numismatic reference book by Jeff Garrett, “100 Greatest U.S. Coins,” along with many notable pedigrees. He counts the L. Rogers 1794 FH $1 in PCGS 66 among his favorites, and other career highlights that include:
• 1794 50c PCGS 64
• 1793 Chain 1c PCGS Specimen 67 BN
• 1793 Wreath 1c PCGS Specimen 68 RED
• 1870-S Seated $1 PCGS AU 58 EX-NORWEB
• 1893-S $1 PCGS 67 EX-NORWEB/JACK LEE
• 1870-CC 25c NGC 64 EX-ELIASBERG
• 1856-O $20 PCGS 58 EX-AMON CARTER
We are very happy to welcome Chris to our team. His numismatic knowledge is virtually unsurpassed, and I have tremendous confidence in his business and leadership abilities. Along with the addition of Chris, who will be relocating to Orange County, Bowers and Merena has also acquired certain assets of Summit Rare Coins, furthering our goals of expansion and growth.
I know that Chris is looking forward to sharing his coin expertise with the Bowers and Merena clients, especially as we prepare for the March Official Baltimore Auction. We are inviting consignments now to what is traditionally the biggest Baltimore Expo of each year. Call Chris today, or email him at cnapolitano@bowersandmerena.com, to talk personally about your collection and opportunities for consigning to Bowers and Merena’s Official March Baltimore Auction.

Please say he is not related to "Big Sis!"
<< <i>Who is he replacing? Deeds? >>
He's actually replacing The King of Spectrum. Steve Deeds stepped down a while ago because of health issues.
Chris was a good dealer and is very knowledgeable. And no, he's not related to "big sis".
Authorized dealer for PCGS, PCGS Currency, NGC, NCS, PMG, CAC. Member of the PNG, ANA. Member dealer of CoinPlex and CCE/FACTS as "CH5"
Even though the past few Bower's auctions have been markedly improved, I think you will see them become far better under Chris. I'd love to see him initiate some improvement on the IT side of things for starters, so that bidding live in their auctions becomes less problematic. I wish him well.
John
