Just upgraded my VF25 to this one. Has pretty rose toning on the obverse with rainbow rim toning. The reverse also has nice rim toning. CAC Approved!
Guess the grade! SHE IS GRADED BY PCGS AS XF40!

<< <i>50, perhaps 53. >>
That's my thought, as well.

this year bustie rarely seems to catch a break grade wise, even when the luster's there.

I think that is pretty accurate!
<< <i>It's very eye appealing for an XF... Nice to see you finally bought something good!

<< <i>It looks to be a strong XF coin, but I would be fairly suprised to see it in such a holder. My PCGS guess would be 50. >>

I didn't comment because I knew the grade but privately I said I thought it was XF45, shot at 50. Here is my XF40 and the OP's coin looks a bit stronger.
Lance.
I was thinking 45 slight chance at 50 when I saw the pics.
Sticker in my eyes
The TPG's don't always get the 07 and 08 CBH's right.
They should.....but they don't.
<< <i>She is better than a 40

It is very seldom I disagree with my good friend, astute collector buddy JRocco, but I would grade the thing a solid 40 and no better from the images.
But I have to admit that I can't remember the last time he
was wrong when it came to grading an 1807....
I still think what I think....but he makes me think it less
<< <i>When all else fails, weak strike etc. I go to the right wing facing on reverse. And of course luster. Although the TPG's don't always go by luster. Hence, we sometimes see a dead fish with no luster in AU holders. >>

What makes the 1807 CBHs so difficult to grade is because the weak strike can occur in six different areas, sometimes in more than one area on any given specimen:
1. Dentils
2. "LIBERTY"
3. Stars on one or both sides
4. Clasp
5. Scroll on reverse
6. Eagle's wing, usually the left one
scratch or some hairlines that do not show on the images? Since they saw the coin and I am only
seeing the images, I think I will defer to the experts.
