I am at a loss for words. People can be AWFUL.

As many of you know, I had open heart surgery last Thursday. I am recovering quite well and am going home tomorrow. My bum of a brother (who's 27) was living with his gf (who honestly seemed nice enough) at my house. I brought a ton of stuff home with me for the break, because I'd be recovering from my surgery.
Anyways, I noticed my mom running in and out of the hospital room on Friday, but didn't know why. Today I found out.
APPARENTLY my brother's girlfriend took my ENTIRE camera bag, including my coin photography camera consisting of a D5000, Sigma 150mm macro lens, as well as a 18-55mm Nikon lens, 55-200mm Nikon lens, a Canon SD870IS and an Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 and SOLD IT FOR $450 TO SOME GUY ON CRAIGSLIST!! Everything I paid so much money for to take good coin pics gone. Poof.
My brother apparently found out soon after and went CRAZY on her, and thank god they got everything back. My parents called the cops though, and she currently has a warrant out for her arrest for grand theft. I can NOT believe someone would do this to someone's family when their parents are nice enough to let her live at their house for free. Anyways, that's obviously over and she's on the run from the cops. I'm obviously still at the hospital and haven't SEEN that all my stuff is back, but she promises it is. Anyways, that's what I dealt with today, just had to vent. UGH.

P.S. We have a locksmith changing ALL our locks int he house tomorrow, as well as putting a deadbolt on my bedroom door.

But . . . always remember the "makings of a man" show up most when difficult situations arise. Despite the challenges, you will recover, times will be better, and your faith will be restored.
It'll be OK . . . just give it a bit of time.

To be completely honest, my sister is not to be trusted either, and has stolen from me in the past. Apparently my bro's gf was trying to pin this on her. She had it pretty well planned, but apparently my brother made her get my stuff back. My brother wouldn't steal from me, and I didn't think his gf would do this to me, but obviously I was wrong.

Glad you are doing better, and glad your stuff is supposed to be back, but, from the potential drugs perspective of this....don't rely/relax on the new locks/warrant.
If she knows you have the stuff, and gets desperate enough, she still remembers the house and where it is. She may get a new "boyfriend" and they may decide that they need drug money one way or another.
And, if she knows you have coins.......well, get them ALL locked up and make sure that anyone that knows you do coins knows they are locked in the bank and not accessible at the house.

I hope that everything has been recovered so you can focus on your recovery.
As others have said, take precautions with your valuables and don't assume that they are safe at home anymore. It is a shame that you can't trust family sometimes, but that lack of trust might save you from a random thief too.

Geez, with a brother like that, who needs enemies. He's an even bigger dirtbag than she is, because he's family and should know better. Do yourself a favor and stay away from both of them.

I agree with WinPitcher. This event sucks but the major deal in your life right now is not to worry about the camera, et. al., but instead is to get well. You should try to let this drift out of your mind and pay attention to your nurses and doctors.
And, on that topic, it's definitely great that you are up and taking a lap around the ICU. Two questions: 1) By chance are you in Shands at Jacksonville?, and 2) Do you have any idea when you get to go home?
