As far as I am concerned, The Big Three of coin pedigrees includes the multigenerational Eliasberg (Clapp), Garrett, and Norweb collections. All of these are general US coin collections, which include a wide variety of Federal series, patterns, colonials, etc. Many of the coins are still traceable, due to the relatively recent auctions and the widespread availability of these auction catalogs.

The rest of the pedigrees (with the possible exception of Pittman and Bass) are specialty collections are of interest primarily to other specialists.

Even though I have a couple of these Omaha Bank Hoard I would not think of it with any regard. If I remember correctly if's a name for a auction houses offering of coins not a great collection..

Will Larry Martin or Joshua II ever make a list such as this one day?

    Any thoughts on Merc Dimes?

FCC Boyd had "The Worlds Greatest Collection", that should count for something, right? image

For general pedigrees I think the biggies are (in order):
    Eliasberg
    Norweb
    Garret
    Bass
    Boyd

    My personal favorite Pedigrees are:
    Legend
    Carter
    James A Stack
    Fairfield
    Rudolf
    Silverman
    Share
    Stellar
    Queller

But that's just cause they had outstanding seated dollars (and in some cases not much else...)
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!
