So, how's the quality of your 2010 ASE proofs?

I'm disappointed. Reverse detail showing very minor knicks and dings on a very high percentage of coins. If my 100 coins are any indication, the population of PR70s should be much lower than previous years. Good thing I don't pre-sell PR70's!

<< <i>Compare the nicks and dings between coins. Sometimes those are actually non-cameo spots on the die. If they're identical on at least two coins, that's what you have. >>
Similar problem on multiple coins, but looks like either a mechanical hit or die damage. Looks like a single bag mark on the same spot on multiple coins.

edited to correct the date of my 2nd order date (had originally said the 29th, which is Monday, to the 20th.)
3 basically perfect
3 had a few tiny non cameo spots but otherwise pretty nice
1 had a noticeable ugly milk spot
2 had numerous light scratches in the right obverse field (I removed the coin from the holder to verify they weren't on the plastic)
1 had a couple of deeper nicks and minor rim damage
I'm keeping 3, the rest are going back.....not impressed at $46 per item

Same here,
7 of 25 seem perfect, 2 very near perfect rest with your stated issues.
9 sent to PCGS with fingers crossed.

<< <i>This is the only one I ordered. Its one of the better ones I've received over the past years.
Some of the specs are lint on the capsule.

Any dings/hits on the frosted details on the reverse?

I take his word for it. Mine are perfect too.
two with frosting breaks on the obverse, and the last two seem ok.
glad I ordered more.
(I've not had a 70 yet on any of my previous ASE Proofs)

Received 100 with the same issues as stated above, looks like 30% 70's at best.....
6 look perfect....
2 with a single die pin hole mark
2 with a few small marks/abrasion
<< <i>My two Eagles came today: excellent, no marks or dings anywhere.
Same here. Beautiful coins.

my other 2:
1- with frost break in shield
1- with what looks like a milk spot smear

yes, same here....i went through 100 and then the best of those and wound up with 20 that i could not see anything wrong.
20-30% for PR70DCAM would be about right though for PCGS on a blind submission on ASE proofs?? at least that's been my experience.

John, you may for sure be right but i didn't bother taking the coin out of the capsule and see if i could "get rid of it". can you?? many had this dot/hit/whatever on the shield.
FWIW i didn't keep track but 30+ easy out of 100 had this "spot
it was one of the first places i looked when inspecting the coins. it was such a popular "spot" to be!

Mine also look excellent.
My coins are spotted all over and I mean every one. of my box of 15. I am going to look at my box of 10 tomorrow. I received that box 2 days later so they may be different.
That is the worst quality I have ever got from the mint!
