Liberty Head Nickel Submission - Grades Available

My good friend, Glenn Holsonbake, convinced me to
submit my raw Liberty Head Nickel collection for grading
along with an accumulation of V Nickels he had to make
up a bulk submission.
Most of my raw coins were pulled out of circulation by
my Grandfather back in the teens and twenties. He saved
anything in nice condition and anything unusual. As Buffalo
nickels were common dated and plentiful at the time, he
saved a nice group of the Barber Nickels.
Here are the dates and grades received:
[missing dates were previously submitted
and are now already graded.]

back in the early 1990's to complete
the set:

I look forward to seeing what Glenn has to offer the rest of us.
On a side note, is there a 85 or 86 included in the set?
I knew it would happen.
<< <i>Congrats, seems like a nice matched high end AU set!
On a side note, is there a 85 or 86 included in the set? >>
Here are the 1885 [ PCGS 58 - seller's images ] and the 1886 [ found this coin in a PCI AU 53- Green Holder -
and crossed it "At Any Grade"... imagine my surprise that it came back as an AU 58 !! ]

<< <i>Sounds like a real nice set.

Glenn is more than pleased with the submission as I was; knowing
I am trying to get the entire collection in AU 58 holders, he offered
me these coins:
1891 - AU 58; 1898 - AU 58; 1906 - AU 58; 1911 - AU 58.
EDIT: I realized that I had all but the 1911-P in AU 58.
Glenn mentioned he also had an 1887 in AU 58
[ I passed because I received an AU 58 grade on mine ]
and he also had a duplicate 1906 in AU 58.
Send him a PM [ Ponyexpress8 ] and he'll be more than happy
to let you know the rest of the dates and their grades.

That's very true, Chris.
I remember when my Grandmother's sister
went over the coins with me when I was about
14 yrs old - and it was obvious that a few dates
were missing.
She said ..." wait a minute, I have some old coins
tucked away..." and she came back with an AU
1909 - which is included in this submission. The other
coins were being saved for her own grandson - but
I was thrilled to get the coin she gave me... and I have
always considered the 1909 a tough date. [ Thanks
again, Aunt Betty. ]
I plan on having these Liberty Head Nickels imaged
by Todd of BluCCphotos within the next few weeks.
I'll post images once I receive them.

Mike - I felt the same way.
Not one plus in the entire 86 coin submission !!
Only 6 BB's out of 86 coins submitted -
[ one from my group - the 1883 With Cents ]
I may give it an acetone bath to remove any debris from
the surfaces which may have brought on a No Grade.
I only wish my Dad was still with us so that he could
have seen his Father's Nickel collection in PCGS holders.

<< <i>Mike, why did you have them graded? >>
I had started to get a few certified here and there - and the Eagle Album
had too many holes in it - so I thought, "what the heck ?"

Can't wait to see them! I have some halves getting reholdered then the whole pile goes off to Todd. I can't wait!
which I submitted to NGC - and only one BB'd coin has been graded by NGC -
the 1902-P in AU 58 - and its a striking coin .
