2010 Proof S.E. subcription order cancelled

I just checked on my order and noticed my backordered (10) proof S.E. had been cancelled by the Mint. I just got off the phone with a Mint rep who stated it was
a computer glitch. Should I trust them or should I be worried that I will not receive my Eagles?
Anyone else have this happen on their Proof subscription order?

Mine was cancelled as well but since it's not the 19th, whats to worry about? Just wait and see. If the order is still cancelled come the 19th then logon and join the masses or set up your speed dial.

i was surprised to see all the order processing activity for these. for all my subscriptions, over all the years, i never saw the item processed as ordered before the "on sale" date/time. they would always show the subscription itself as in stock and reserved for $.o1, but the item was never ordered till the on sale time. maybe they are just making sure that the system will still process these items as subscriptions, after all it's been awhile (none for 2009). i would suggest waiting till the actual on-sale time to complain..... can't explain why they used up all those order numbers though.

    Same message in my order.

I didn't get that one, when was your subscription entered into the mints website?

Offering you a chance to increase your subscriptions.

My guess is that they began processing them too early, if there is such a thing.

Since day 1. I have been a subscriber since they started subscription service years ago.

Me too...and although I don't have huge quantities I do buy a lot of stuff. Does it get me anything? Nope, no better service and sometimes I am better off buying in the secondary market than having to return stuff for poor quality etc.

Wow...I just got one too....I have been a subscriber to these for a quantity of 2 for well, many years. So if they are sold out who got them all? Why did the mint not put a limit on them? The Mint is very frustrating at times...heck, it would not take a rocket scientist to run a query against your subscription data and see how many folks have open subscriptions, check the total of those subscriptions against the planned mintage and see if you are going to run into a problem. But I am just a humble computer guy who does this kind of stuff for a living so what do I know.

Oh yeah...and what kind of 'alternative item' would I be offered? Maybe a dollar off coupon to some TV dealer who bought 10000 of them? Alternative, right...yeah I am bugged about this....

I was just told that we will not need to do anything to re-order our coins. This was a huge computer error and that the Mint has the order records and will automatically reenter them. I was also told that I should expect to receive the exact number I ordered.

Two possible reasons why they did this.

    1. They are increasing the price and will reissue the subscriptions again, though don't count on it. It will be open season on the first day of sale.

    2. They did not have enough quantity to meet all the subscription demand. I could see dealers including Coin Vault getting as many subscriptions as they could. This happened to the gold spouses subsrcriptions. They sold out when they offered these. All 40K were sold out and then they cancelled the subscriptions.

Of course I really have no idea but its is fun to speculate what happened.

I never got the email but my account page has them as cancelled. Perhaps they stopped the emails so their customers won't become infuriated.
  • I think they sold them all to Daniel Carr who bought them to reduce competetion.

    How about this scenario.

The US Mint has decided NOT to produce these coins and all pieces minted so far will be returned to Sunshine Minting in Couer d'Alene Idaho to be turned into 5 oz Hockey Puck ATB Quarter Replica Bullion pieces.

    Wouldn't that suck?

I think if you subscribe now you will get the 2011 version, not the 2010.
  • I had a subscription in for the ATB Quarters (Mt. Hood) that was being processed and they cancelled that too. It has to be an computer issue that's resulting in cancelled subscriptions.

When I called, they said it was probably a computer error, but that since it was Veteran's Day, they could not do anything about it.

This is going to be some mess!

People ordering by subscription now think they have 2010 coins ordered but in reality have 2011 coins,

They had better be on line or on the phone on the 19th to make sure they have their orders in or they will be on ebay to get their coins paying a lot more for these things.
  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 34,605 ✭✭✭✭✭

<< <i>I think if you subscribe now you will get the 2011 version, not the 2010. >>

Sub placed after cancellation reads: 2011
Sub in long before orders processed reads: 2011

In other words, all my subs now read 2011.

It might depend upon how they handle it.

They know they cancelled them, but did they cancel all of them?

They can look for 2010 ASE proof orders that were cancelled and make new ones for the same amount.

If they were all cancelled, they can change all the subs to 2010 and rerun the order making part.

    We'll see. It's worth a shot.

at least i won't have to beg again for forgiveness from my wife for my 100 piece subscription....lol

my guess is a repricing, or they will just scrap it altogether. even if they scrap it, i'll bet they have already struck a few 100k

Considering it is not November 19th yet, I am not worried. I have had a subscription for a number of years, so I sure has heck should be in a decent place on whatever pecking order there may be though!

I bet though if you had a subcription for 3 years or just signed up today, there is no difference.

I wonder if they actually have so few of these, they are going to cancel subscriptions. They did that before, I can't remember what is was, maybe the first spouse or 20th ann silver sets..
