Anyone selling nothing but coins on eBay have 5/5 stars?

jessewvujessewvu Posts: 5,079 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just looked, and I have 5.0 out of 5.0 for everything I've sold in the past few months. It might have been the recent auctions where I've sold stuff for so cheap, I told the buyers not to pay for it because the PayPal fees would be more than the auction itself. I hear a lot of people on the boards saying they get bad scores from bidiots, i wonder if the modern stuff is less susceptible to bad DSR's. imageimage

I used to have 5/5 on them all, but they recently took all the info off because I guess I haven't sold enough lately. Offering free shipping, shipping immediately after payment is received, leaving feedback right after getting payment and being in communication with all buyers seems to be the only shot at keeping everyone happy on eBay and I'm sure that doesn't even work all of the time!!!

if a person gave everything away and offered free shipping, sooner or later someone is still gonna whine. 5/5 is almost impossible. what you would have to give up isnt worth the gain

I was really close for a while. I didn't change anything (if anything else, my shipping costs probably when down a hair and I shipped a bit more frequently) and my DSRs dropped. If they're not 1s or 2s (or really even 3s, for that matter), then it seems a bit too difficult to try and please everyone, since I don't think it's possible.

I've given up caring. The unpleasable always will be - all it takes is one in a hundred. Or two.

I had a period where I offered free shipping, and my DSR for shipping cost dropped 2/10ths image ('Couse you can't do that anymore, but the idiots at eBay hadn't fixed that yet.

I don't whine about it, because on the items I sell I still do better than wholesaling them, even with the PP and eBay fees - and it's cheaper than spending my time in a storefront...

Feedback is garbage on ebay since they changed to the 12 month only format. Good for the high volumn sellers but garbage for low volumn sellers. I just read the feedback now.

Its really cool to get 1's from a buyer for shipping when NO SHIPPING was involved.

I have three 5's and a 4.9 - on both my accounts. Guess which one is the 4.9.

Remember that eBay gets more fees if your rating slides. Not to be a negative, but do you think they would make it easy to keep it up? Since eBay has promoted free Shipping anything you charge is suspect as being too much by buyers. But you go into any coin magazine and ask them to ship anything for $3.00 and see what happens. Then there is the post office to worry about no matter how fast you ship. I had someone just get a package after three weeks. It was in pieces, and of course my rating got it for that. The whole rating thing is stacked against all sellers, even the good ones. And we all know that buyers and sellers NEVER disagree over grade, right? When you use Paypal shipping an email goes to the buyer with the tracking infomration, but do you know how many emails I get asking for tracking information? Of course buyers are perfect so I am sure somehow it is my fault they cannot read, or choose not to.

So as time goes on, the more only the junk makes it to ebay auctions.

5 across the board is real tough but possible. I probably had one person in the last 134 who gave me a 4 and ruined my 5 across the board. You do your best and that's all you can do!! Here's mine. I ship the same day as payment always. Still no 5. Life goes on!!

Was all 5"s til about a month ago, now it's 5,5,4.9.5.

Hard to understand because we state that all items will be shipped within (3) business days (we ship Tues.-Fri.) and we do a good job at it, whoever I pissed off a month ago must have really whacked me......

I don't worry anymore about the stats as the only thing I can do is do a good job and treat folks fairly, I can't control the goofballs and what key they hit on there PC....image

I don't give out free shipping any more. I found free shipping isn't help with price and feedback. I charge shipping and in some cases I also charge insurance and tracking number or at least port of the insurance. As long as I can get that 20% off from ebay fee. I guess I am OK.

i had an experience with a bidder not long ago, i received a neg because the item took too long to reach the buyer, i contacted ebay, with proof of when it was shipped and when it was received, thier response was "one negative wont hurt your rating much, its your overall score that matters" that is a flawed policy. if one mark doesnt matter, then none of them should.

I'm in Kabul, Afghanistan, and offer free shipping (4.9), communicate immediately that it will take 10-14 days for a package to arrive via Priority Mail (free) from Afghanistan and then follow up with another e-mail (4.8), ship immediately (4.7). It doesn't matter if you offer free shipping, communicate often and ship immediately... someone is always going to ding you.
