I'm not shocked - it was easily one of the best looking ones I have ever seen.

Is that a fingerprint on the cheek?

Reminds me of a certain post not too long ago... perhaps he upgraded the coin? (same grade, but appears to be nicer color...)
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

Looks nice, but 10 grand nice? Goes to show, if you wanna play in this hobby at the higher end of the toned market, you better have plenty of cake!

Fingerprint on the cheek doesn't help it, and the hits on the chin and cheek are there.

The consignee must be a happy camper as if he'd placed it on dealer memo it most likely would have fetched $1850 to maybe $2500 if someone ogled the OGH.

The 46-S in a NGC soap bar holder also fetched $6,325.00 image

Looks like the coin market is getting ole ole ole ole ole ole feeling Hot Hot Hot!!! image

How would a NT coin come to look like that, ie album tone, tissue wrapped?

I've been wondering the same. There are so many beautifully colored BTW examples. What makes this particular coin tone so well?

I feel most of these are album toned as they do not tone beyond a mottled golden brown in the issued holder.

It's hard to compare auction prices, these seem very inconsistently graded IMHO. I have a mixture from 64-66, but they're matched fairly well...go figure.
