Grand Canyon Quarter--Do I hear 25 cents?

I continue to be astonished at the lack of interest in this series. There are some very nice designs coming out of it--not to mention extremely low mintages for a circulating series--but not even a single mention on these boards. Yikes!

This series is a non-starter. They should have quit while they were ahead after the state quarters.

If the Federal Reserve would get these out to the banks for distribution the same way they did with the state quarters, there would most likely be far more collectors of them.

I predict that even though I'm in Nevada, and we share part of the Grand Canyon with
Arizona, I won't see one for two years.

If any of them ever made it into circulation, you might find there'd be more interest.

You cant be interested in something you don't know about (and most people don't follow this board or Mint press releases too closely).

I've actually gotten a couple in circulation, probably since at least two banks in my area carry them. I am actually surprised at the lack of interest on these boards, though. Sure, they're not gold or silver, but I expect these to be a lot more popular in years to come...

For a circulating coin I haven't even seen one of them. How is there supposed to be interest on phantom coins that only the TV sellers have.

I think of it as the Royal Canadian Mintification of the US Mint.

How did people get interested in the gold buffalos or 1950-D nickels? I would agree that current lack of interest is probably a case of mental fatigue after the end of the State Quarters series. On the "baseballcardization" issue, it seems the Mint has dialed back quite a bit on the number of products, which is a good thing. The prezzies and Spouses have tied the Mint's hands, but I think that leaves the NP Quarters as one of the more "pure" offerings that they have--and therefore the most interesting. I still expect these to catch on at a modest level at some point...

I think it's great that the Mint is coming out with a lot of different designs. The more the merrier in my view. For many years there they didn't do squat and people complained about that, and now that they're mixing it up I'm betting that it's a lot of the same people complaining!

WHen the collectors come in and these national park quarters begin to hit circulation then the collectors will come in. I'm also yet to get one national park quarter in circulation. The designs are absolutely stunning besides the toilet quarter and when people begin to see these stunning designs collectors will come in by much larger numbers. We will never see low mintages for future quarters like we are seeing with the first four. Only 29 million hot springs d quarters and in 2008 the us mint made 1.3 billion quarters or over 40 times as many as hot springs quarters, this really puts it into perspective on just how low the mintages are for these first four national park quarters.
