I just want to be 'last man standing' after the gavel falls on this beauty in a week and a half. THIS will make one heck of an avatar. What a better way to get a unique avatar...than to get a unique coin!!!

This was the avatar I selected the day I signed up here... I later bought the coin just so I could continue to use it!

At the risk of being one of those pests who can't bugger over to the tech help part, I can't figure out how to upload an original avatar, as opposed to choosing one from a pre-set list of "Author Icons." (Yes, my avatar can be Ray Bradbury or Larry Niven.)
It's so hard to say the word "avatar" without thinking about blue-striped cat people from that certain movie...

Along with the F-86, the F-5 was always one of my fav USAF jets. Many moons ago when I flew for Flight International, they had an F-5 that I always wanted to get checked out on, but it never happened. I'm jealous!
My avatar is this cameo I bought years ago. I read somewhere that St. Gaudens once carved cameos and thought this one looked like something he might carve since it resembles a coin design. It is the only cameo I have ever seen that looks similar to an american coin design.
Scott, the methods of posting your own Icon or avatar or whatever you choose to call it have been discussed many times. In a nutshell, you can ONLY upload your own image on the 15th of the month, unless that day is a weekend, then its the next business day after that. Remember, PCGS is on the left coast, so understand this means after noon for us on the east, and so on...
Any image you have, that meets with PCGS approval (no porno etc etc) can be used for an icon (or avatar or whatever you choose to call it). Size is important. It needs to be 100X100 pixels or smaller. you can rename your image, if you use something that starts with an A, then its easy to find it again on the vast list of icons ( or etc etc) that are already on file. Anyone can use anyones icon (or...etc etc) at any time, common courtesy dictates its not good to steal someones icon (or...etc) .
Next month, if you want to change, and find you are having difficulties, just post and someone will assist you.
