A fun coin story

The other day I picked up some cull silver. The bulk of these coins were quickly resold but I did keep this 1873 seated half dollar behind. Partly because it was a seated half but mostly because it was sooo very worn, I wanted to enter it in an on-line "how low can you go" contest on another coin forum. So I took a few photos of the coin with the intent of posting them and while cropping the photos I noticed something on the reverse that I hadn't seen when I looked at the coin with my eyes. There beneath the eagle on the reverse were two faint "cc's". Knowing very little about Carson City seated half's, I did what little research I could on this date with a google search and found there are in fact 2 varieties to this date (with arrows). The majority of CC coins of this date posses a large "CC's" and the other rarer variety that has two small, roundish "cc's" that are often found in lower grades. These two barely discernible "cc's" looks small and roundish to me! Ha ha, I was blown away! Had these 2 little cc's been any more prominent, it would have never made it into a collection of culls. I can't even count the times I've hoped to find a "CC" lurking in a pile of silver and to-date this is the first one I've ever found! Granted, I would much rather had found one in better grade, but hey, can't beat buying any Carson City coin @ melt with a stick! From now on I'm always looking twice at my bullion 90% silver coins.

Question - does anything think this coin would even grade or better yet, does anyone think this coin SHOULD be graded? LOL!!! (also, can someone please shrink my photos? I think they're too big for the forum and I'm not smart enough to do it myself! TIA

I think it's a beautiful coin and would leave it as is.

I see what look to be scratches on both sides of the coin so if those are indeed on the coin and not the holder then I would say the chances are slim it would grade .....but congrats on your find anyway
