Toning pattern looks just a little odd to me, but I am still learning. Currently in PCGS plastic. If NT, what could have caused it to tone that way?

Ditto about the NT, but maybe the Roosy was a practice coin?

I'll add to that number. I, also, thought EOR toner...until I saw the obverse, which is not as attactive and is toned drabbly (sic?).
If this were rev out, EOR, toning, then I would expect the obv to be mostly/largely/completely untoned. Not the case. So, it toned in some other way, but I still vote NT

I didn't see the image of the other side, yet. But even though, apparently it is toned, that doesn't preclude the possibility of the coin being an end roll toner. I have seen some original rolls where many or most of the coins were toned to varying degrees and in some cases, on both sides.

You're still "learning" what? That's what I'd like to know.
On your coin, I believe it's beautiful. Those colors are stunning. It's a credit to the photographer for bringing that out for us to appreciate. It looks "deep" to me. There's nothing superficial or thin or "water-color-looking" about it. Every coin is unique, and every coin tarnishes or not differently. By that, I mean, another silver dime, same series and grade, subjected to the same environmental conditions as this one, may have not so much as a "scratch" of tarnish on it. It may happen abruptly, too, within a matter of several months.
Bottom-line, it's eye-appealing. It's not nail polish, and it's not spray paint. It's natural tarnish, and I like it.

Grading AT from NT, even if they are already in a holder.

they had different types of tabs to hold coin in place - cardboard paper over bottom half of coin
this coin looks like it could have been in such a holder
and I have seen a few MS68 Mercury dimes that have outstanding color from similar storage

I was the underbidder once again. This coin sold a few weeks ago only to show up again on teletrade last night. It actually went for about $100 more money this time. Go figure.
