The 1879-S, 1880-S or 1881-S Morgan in a Type Set??

I'm planning on purchasing one of the three in PCGS MS67 for a Type Set, but don't know which year to get. I definently want booming luster and a great strike. Also, my concern lies in the fact that certain dates have higher mintages than the other two, and certain dates have higher population numbers existing in MS68 and higher. Which one should I get??

Either one is good for type -- very high quality, beautiful coins at that grade level. Just buy the nicest one for the grade out of the ones you look at.

They're all common dates and readily available in MS67, though I suppose the 79-S is probably just a tad less common than the other two. Each one is known for great lustre, and finding a piece with frosty devices and semi-prooflike fields shouldn't be too hard. but, since there's selection and the date is rather generic, take your time. It's definitely worth your while to seek out a really PQ example that hasn't been messed with and is truly all there.

There is no need (and it might even be counterproductive) to determine ahead of time, which date to get. Let the individual coin/example talk to you when you see it.
