Thats the Type 2 reverse which does not belong on a 1971-S Business Strike. It only appeared on the 1971-S Proof and 1972-S Business Strike and Proof. Be sure to validate that you are not looking at a circulated proof coin and be sure it's a 1971-S.
The hair is still curious though since that configuration is neither proof nor business strike unless the lighting has caught it just right.
As soon as you can get good clear pictures, we can move ahead but until then it's all just speculation.

Ahhh.
The hair for a 71-S Proof should look like the pic on the far right. (An upside down V). For a 71-S Proof, the Pegleg R was used in the first minting. The R was not included in the pics above.

astrorat (hope I got that right?), you asked about proof vrs. business strike? Lee Lydston's Prototype Ike was deemed a proof by convention: prototypes and patterns are graded as if they are proofs. Lee's PR64 could easily be MS67, possibly 68 on a good day, but as I was told, with a prototype that looks healthy, who cares what the grade is? In fact, Lee's coin has both proof and business strike features so in this respect it is a kind of "stem cell" coin, one of the reasons I felt so strongly it was minted early in Gasparro's exploratory efforts (and likely released to the public in error).
SLUGGO's Ike sure looks like another Prototype to me as it has the unique obverse features that Lee was the first to spot (and that is a great story!) in addition to the same reverse as Lee's Prototype.
But SLUGGO's Ike would have to go through an additional attribution step similar to the one that led to Lee's "Prototype" attribution before ANACS would add that word to the tag on SLUGGO's Ike. Rob

What is the additional attribution step that Lee's coin went through to get the "Prototype" designation?
frnklnlvr, the additional step was bringing in an honored numismatist with outstanding credentials in patterns and early designs who also knows Ikes. I had informally consulted the gentleman in my early explorations, then brought him in formally so he could personally examine Lee's Ike and render an opinion as to the suitability of "Prototype" designation that we could pass on to Wiles and John Roberts.
I would rather not divulge this consultant's identity here and now because I hope to ask for his formal attribution of SLUGGO's Ike for "Prototype" designation and meanwhile want to shut off premature blogging on the coin (and on the owner), akin to an attorney brought into a bit of a sticky wicket telling his client "Don't do anything more or say anything to anybody without checking with me first."

Since you can obviously take photo's, open an account at www.photobucket.com
It's totally free (except for the annoying ads) and intuitively obvious for uploading.
Once you get your pics uploaded, simply copy the IMG code (which is given under each uploaded photo) and paste it into an opened thread.
