FSH; Gem Red Indian, PCGS 64, looks 66. An excellent coin, make me an offer!

Fully red and fully lustrous 1909 P Indian cent, PCGS MS64RD. This coin needs no imagination, it is full mint red, and looks like a roll fresh 30's Lincoln. Bumped two points for a tiny mark on the cheek and a reverse toning spot ( not carbon) IMO, this coin looks "66". $295 OBO.

1910 P Lincoln NGC MS63RB. Well struck and very clean for the grade. Deep, nearly full red with some irridescent lavender and blue. Silver toning spot on the shoulder. $40
1911 P Lincoln ICG MS62 BN. Even chocolate brown with red glow around the devices and at the rims. Extremely well struck. I'd buy this raw as a 64BN any day. $33
1917 P Lincoln ICG MS63BN. Nice lighter caramel brown with considerable red for a brown designated coin. Nice luster. A tiny spec by the "7". A pretty coin. $30
1930 P NGC MS63 RD. Full red. A 64 with a not too distracting print. Nice strike and luster. $17

Bankwrapped rolls '58D & '62P. The ends on these are smashed flat from being stored in square Numis Products tubes, apparently for quite some time , and they do not appear to have been opened. The '62 P is the highest priced (PCGS priceguide) FBL Franklin in 64 and 65 after the '53S. '58D ON HOLD / '62P SOLD. BTW, 14 dates in the series have plus signs in 64FBL in the 07/16 Bluesheet. THE '62 P IS SOLD/ '58 D ON HOLD

1833 CBH ANACS AU50 (old holder, cert #469838). I like it for a "53". Quite lustrous, with a medium seagreen obverse and some gold at the rims, seagreen rims on the reverse with some gold at the outermost perimeter, and silvery centers with light reddish gold. Both sides are lustrous, distraction free, well struck, and attractive. $325.

1890 Seated Dime NGC MS64. Nearly white and very lustrous, with but a hint of tone (images are a bit more pronounced). Well struck and clean for the grade, the "soft" area at "AM" on the obverse is a scuff on the holder, the legend is well defined. A very nice Type example. $370

1937 S Lincoln PCGS MS67 RD. We just made this coin at PCGS. Truly deserving of the grade, and not just a number on a holder. Heritage had two in this grade close on May 1st, one @ $565, and the other @$480. This coin is obviously superior to both of these. Was asking $600 delivered, but, what ya got? REDUCED to $495
1921 P Lincoln PCGS MS63RD. Looks better. Full red, lustrous and well struck $150

1935 DDR Buffalo FS018, F12. Nice F12 with no particular problems, and obvious doubling on FIVE CENTS. PCGS price guide is $100, N News Coin Market is $125. This...$75 delivered.

1796 Draped Bust, Small Eagle $1, Small Date, Large Letters, Bolender 4. This resides in a DGS VF20 holder, with the notation; "Cleaned and Retoned, Altered Surfaces". This coin looks to have been net graded from a VF35, with nearly all detail remaining. The cleaning has not left the usual plethora of hairlines that normally are seen on the great majority of coins from this era, including those holdered and graded by the top TPGs. The toning is a deeper grey, though pretty evenly distributed over both sides. As for the "altered surfaces", the graders were merely alluding to the lack of originality on the surfaces (their words), and, IMO, greatly overstating the extent of the cleaning. A great coin for Type, and with Greysheet Bid @ $4850 in VF(20), and @ $9000 in XF(40), a wonderful opportunity at $4250, delivered. Pics are at the bottom of this (lengthy) post. I also have an image for comparison, same date and variety, of a PCGS XF45 (with an asking price of $16K). These coins are nearly identical, detail wise, with the coin offered here perhaps just a tad sharper. Despite the "make an offer" controversy, feel free to do so. Also, please ask to see the comparison pic.

1835 B-2, VF20 obverse, XF reverse, lightly cleaned. $125
1854 With Arrows XF 40, luster remains among the devices. A light cleaning, and mostly light silvery grey, but not unnaturally bright, with a hint of light gold/tan. $50
1918 S F12. Actually looks nicer, but these come weakly struck. $26
1928 SLQ MS63. Lustrous, fully white and well struck, with close to a Full Head. Quite mark free, with a touch of friction on the leading leg holding the grade back, and a tiny, short, as made line above "Q" on the reverse. $150
1932 S DGS AU50, "Lightly Cleaned". Mostly white, but not unnaturally bright, with a hint of lavender at the peripheries. While the obverse was cleaned a bit more enthusiastically than the reverse, it still retains a nice look, and considerable detail for the grade. Would fit nicely in an otherwise AU/BU set. $185

1934 P Walker DGS MS63, pale golden yellow, clean and well struck, looks MS64. $88
1935 P Walker ANACS MS64, attractive partial golden tone on both sides, great strike, luster and overall eye appeal. Very nice for the grade. $79
1936 P Walker ANACS (new) MS63. Bright white, fully struck and graded accurately. $57
1936 S Walker DGS MS64 Bright white and frosty, with a hint of gold. Well struck, with a few ticks on the torso, in the right field, and on the rims, though commensurate with the grade. $190
1939 D Walker ANACS MS61. Mostly white, bit of russet at the obv rim, some friction on the high points and in the fields, good strike and luster. $39
1941 D NGC MS63 Brilliant $45
1941 D DGS MS62 Brilliant, looks better. $39
1941 D Walker ANACS MS65 (early holder, #855305). Gorgeous brilliant Gem with a hint of gold and some deeper color at the rims. Very lustrous and nearly mark free, with exceptionally clean obverse fields. Well struck, with a touch of softness at Ms Lib's head and the corresponding area on the reverse. Looks even better than the assigned grade. $140
1942 P Walker DGS MS63. Fully brilliant, with MS67 luster. A few reeding marks in the right field, but looks fantastic. $39
1942 P Walker NGC MS65 Lovely white gem with a thin halo of gold at the rims. Excellent luster, with a short, thin scratch in the r obv field the only mark worthy of note. $105
1942 S Walker DGS MS64. Mostly brilliant white, with a nice strike for this date, and just a few light wisps in the right field. Nice coin. $75
1944 D Walker DGS MS65 Solid for the grade, brilliant white with very clean surfaces and hard D mint luster at it's best. A very faint squiggle in the right field, and some tics on the central obverse design are all that are keeping this from MS66. Nice looking Walker. $145
1945 P Walker NGC MS65. This wonderfully autumn toned Gem is fully deserving of the grade, and is very pretty, much lovelier in hand. $169
1946 P Walker NGC MS65 Nice satiny luster and bright white. Solid for the grade.$150
1947 P Walker DGS MS63 Light tone, clean and well struck, looks MS64. $46

1948 D NGC MS62. Brilliant, MS63FBL coin. $22
1948 D NGC MS64 Satiny with attractive light to medium golden amber tone $30
1948 D PCGS MS64 FBL Mostly brilliant. $32
1949 P Franklin NGC MS64. Gorgeous blue/red/gold rainbow at both rims, with bright centers. Bell lines are full, but not designated due to some tiny reeding marks. Just a tad scuffy for the grade, but looks really nice. $79 ON HOLD
1949 P ICG MS64 Mostly brilliant, with nice luster. Average for the grade, with Bell Lines that are really close. $59
1949 P PCGS MS63FBL Brilliant $69
1949 D ICG MS63. Flashy white coin with a hint of tone at the peripheries. Accurately graded, but looks better at first glance. Well struck, with some scratches holding back a FBL designation. $55
1949 D Franklin NGC MS62 FBL. A few reeding marks front and back set the grade, but great strike and brilliant, certainly looks better. $59
1949 D ANACS MS63FBL. THis is a very early holder (#687271) Coin has a medium salmon gold tone over both sides, with some deeper multicolor at the rims, almost looks gold plated. Great strike and luster, and is an MS64FBL coin. $69
1949 D ICG MS63FBL. Appropriately graded. Medium mottled greyish amber obverse, with a creamy white reverse. May have been a roll end coin. $49
1949 D ICG MS64 FBL. Original with some faint tan tone and some light splotches. Very Full Bell Lines. $65
1949 S Franklin PCGS MS64. Lustrous silvery grey with a light russet speckled overtone. Average marks for grade, with a strong strike on the periphery, but a bit soft at centers, as usual. Faint print at lower obverse. Nice original coin. $89
1949 S Franklin ICG MS63 FBL $95
1949 P Franklin NGC MS63FBL. Brilliant w/ light gold rim tone on rev. One line of 4 reeding marks on Ben's jowl apparently the reason for the grade, looks better, with a great strike. The reverse is no question MS65. $69
1949 P Franklin ANACS (old) MS63. Brilliant with some reddish gold rim tone and nice luster. Bell lines are full, but not noted (too early?), some hits on the obverse are commensurate with the grade, reverse grades 64. $55
1950 P Franklin NGC MS64. Mostly brilliant, with some golden haze, gaining depth at the lower obverse rim. Well struck with Bell Lines that are full with a short cut on the right side. Appropriately graded. $49
1950 D PCGS MS62FBL. Brilliant with a hint of light gold. $37
1951 P PCGS MS62. Brilliant and flashy, a couple of tiny spots on the reverse. $27
1951 P ANACS MS62FBL, brilliant centers with attractive gold rim tone, some blue on the rev. Well struck with full bell lines and looks better than MS62. $35
1951 P Franklin ANACS (very old) MS65. Hazy tan patina. Few marks but a touch grainy on the high points. $47
1951 D Franklin ICG MS63FBL. Lustrous white with nice bell lines. Faint white print pattern is seen, some reeding marks on Ben's dome. $45
1951 D ICG MS64FBL. Lustrous white with a bit of haze, and a tiny splash of gold at ST in TRUST, and correcponding reverse area. Clean and well struck, with very nice bell lines. $69
1951 D PCGS MS64 OGH, and apparently pre- FBL designation, as these lines are unquestionably full. A small strike through on the bell from Gem. $75
1952 P PCGS MS64FBL. Near Gem. $41
1952 D PCGS MS64FBL. Nice coin, many of these are soooo baggy. $45
1952 S Franklin PCGS MS65. Crusty old mint set toner, with a not so attractively toned obverse, dark and mottled, and a reverse with is much nicer, mostly white with some golden russet at the rims. Very clean beneath the toning. $65
1953 P Franklin PCGS MS65, Golden russet speckled obverse, brilliant reverse. Tougher date in Gem. $85 Now $75
1953 D PCGS MS63FBL. Brilliant, looks better. $25
1953 S Franklin NGC MS65 Brilliant with wonderful luster and a light patch of gold either left rim. Looks great. $59
1954 P PCGS MS64FBL. Nice luster. $37
1955 P PCGS MS64 Brilliant, nice. $25
1955 Franklin NGC MS65. Obvious mint set example, with deep, beautiful, copper/orange/blue on the obverse, with a similar but much lighter reverse. Well struck and quite clean, with one mark on the cheek noted, as well as a thin planchet line in front of the ear, but appropriately graded. $54
1955 "Bugs Bunny". ICG MS63. Lustrous white with two small patches of tone on the obverse. Close to FBL. $35
1956 P NGC MS65. Deep mint set tone in steel blue/grey/gold. Clean with very nice luster. $35
1956 P NGC MS65 Smokey mottled obv, pink rev, nice luster, obvious mint set coin $29
1957 P NGC MS65 Mint set toner. $44
1957 P Franklin NGC MS65. Unquestionable mint set coin, with typical colors in blue/charcoal/tan/pinkish orange, particularly attractive on the obverse for this date. Very clean obverse with a few thin scratches on the bell limiting the grade. In an older, but not 1st gen., fat NGC holder. $44
1957 P Franklin PCGS MS65. Another typically toned example from a mint set, but lacking the haziness most frequently encountered. Some scattered, tiny tics on the head and on the bell, and without the color, would probably grade MS64. Very nice eye appeal, tho. $44
1957 D Franklin PCGS MS65FBL. Typically toned (for this date) mint set example, with a hazy greyish/tan/blue patina over both sides, with bright orange highlights really jumping out with a slight tilt under a light. Arguably not FBL, it seems PCGS is very lenient on this date in particular for this designation. Very clean surfaces, however, with just a couple thin circular scratches on the upper bell limiting the grade. $49
1957 D Franklin PCGS MS64 "Rattler". Mostly brilliant with a touch of mottled, very faint tan. Well struck, with FBL, short cut at the extreme left side of the lines. Few marks, but appropriately graded. $23
1957 D PCGS MS64FBL. A bruise beneath the eye, nice luster. $31
1958 Franklin PCGS MS65. Lightly toned mint set example, which is predominately a silvery pewter, with irridescent gold/yellow/green/blue at the rims and extending towards the centers. The portrait is very clean, though there is a well hidden, thin scratch behind the bust. Again, if brilliant and raw, I would probably call this MS64, but will concur with PCGS in the final assessment given it's superior eye appeal.$35
1958 D Franklin PCGS MS64FBL. Fully brilliant with nice frosty luster. $25
1958 D Franklin PCGS MS65. Typically toned example from a mint set, with a pewter/orange/russet obverse, and a similar, lighter reverse sporting a bright red/copper crescent at the left rim. Very clean, with a few thin scratches on the bell limiting the grade. $39
1958 D Franklin MGC MS65. Lovely mint set example. Light pewter obverse with lots of golden red flash, reverse is berilliant with a thin rainbow at the rim from 9 to midnite. Very clean with nice luster, and bell lines that are quite close to full. $39
1959 P PCGS MS64EBL Brilliant $30
1959 D PCGS MS64FBL. Nice coin. $28
1960 D Franklin PCGS MS64FBL. Fully brilliant and fully struck, bright white example. This is just about as good as it gets in this grade, really making claims to the next grade up, and deserving of the FBL designation. Really nice example for a brilliant set, and a huge value, as MS65 nonFBL examples are bid at $300. This contender, $39
1963 P PCGS MS64 Brilliant and nice for the grade $20
1963 P PCGS MS64 Brilliant, Should be MS65 $25
1963 P NGC MS65. Brilliant with some tone at the rims. $32
1963 D NGC MS63FBL, Brill, nice thin red rim crescent on obv. Obv baggy, rev gem, $17
1967 Kennedy PCGS MS66 SMS,. Brilliant with a cameo obverse. Tiny tan spec in the lower left field. $23

COMMEMORATIVES
1892 Columbian PCGS MS63. Frosty white, with some outstanding red/gold/ blue rim tone on the obverse. "65" eye appeal. $110
1893 Columbian PCGS MS63 OGH. Original, and looks two points better. Predominately white with some pale gold at the rims. Very few marks, fully struck sails, and looks PL to me. This is an outstanding Columbian. $125
1893 Columbian XF/AU, a pleasing circ, no obvious signs of cleaning. $12
1893 Columbian MS64. Deep original golden/red grey tone, with nice luster and no marks. $65
1920 Maine PCGS MS64. A touch of color at the obverse rim of this obviously original coin. Fully struck with nary a mark to be seen. Great looking coin for this issue. $240
1920 Pilgrim ICG MS63. Brilliant with a hint of gold, very nice luster. Some faint hairlines on the obverse, and a diecrack running from 5:00 to 9:00. Reverse looks better than 63. $90
1925 S California Jubilee NGC MS62. Some mottled golden russet at the rims, as often seen , attesting to the originality of this coin. I often wonder what common storage this may be attributed to. In his Commem book, QDB referred to some "leather pouches", not official issue, and I suspect these may be the source. Chromelike luster, with brilliant centers, and well struck. A few light slide marks on the obverse responsible for the grade. $215
1936 Albany PCGS/CAC MS65. Lustrous mostly white with a faint patina overall, a tad darker at the rims. Well struck and quite mark free... CLEAN BEAVER... $325.
1936 York ANACS MS62. Looks MS64 with a full strike, creamy white and quite clean surfaces with a hint of gold, and nice satiny luster. A few very light lines on the obverse are responsible for the grade, and are invisible at all but the right angle. Very pleasing coin. $175
1936 York NGC MS66. A nearly mark free, originally toned example, with decent luster. The toning is an antique golden russet, medium in depth, and distrbuted evenly over both sides. It is obvious that this coin has never been dipped or messed with. Greysheet is $285 bid in MS66. This coin, $235 delivered.
1936 Bridgeport ICG MS64. Appropriately graded, with clean, well struck, lustrous white surfaces. A touch of patina appears as you view at an angle. Very nice coin. $160
1936 Cleveland PCGS MS63 1st gen holder. Original hazy white, with a full strike and very few marks. Just a tad past the 1 millionth coin graded by PCGS. Grades at least one, if not two, points better. $105
1936 S Bay Bridge ANACS MS62. Very light original golden russet over nice silvery and lustrous surfaces. Well struck with a few light lines on the bear being blamed for the grade. Very appealing. $139
1937 Roanoake. Brilliant MS63. $180
1936 Cleveland. Brilliant MS63+. $90
1936 York. Brilliant MS64. $170
1936 Wisconsin. Brilliant with a hint of tone MS60. Two tiny rim bumps, some friction on the beaver. $160
1934 Maryland DGS MS63. Conservatively graded, with flashy white chromelike luster and a good strike for the issue. A few contact marks on the high relief portrait, as usual, are noted. Nice looking coin. $149
1937 P Boone PCGS MS65 Fully struck, with light pastel golden white surfaces. A few small tics and light scuffs. $165
1935 P Boone PCGS MS63 OGH. Some mottled tone on the obverse, but obviously original. Smooth, clean and fully struck surfaces. Looks to grade at least MS64. $115
1937 D Oregon ANACS MS64 (old small holder). Lovely lustrous white coin with a bit of orangey/gold gathering at the rims. Few marks, well struck, and looks better. If you need just one commem, the Oregon should be it, and this one is very nice. $179
1946 Iowa DGS MS65, wonderfully original, high end coin. Satiny silver luster over both sides, with but a tinge of tone at the obveres rim. Well struck, and mark free, looks fully MS66. $135

1947 PDS BTW ANACS MS65. P is creamy, clean and looks better; D is brilliant; S is a touch hazy with some die polish. A white set, P&S are consecutive (one # apart). $239
1947 PDS BTW NGC65/66/65 gorgeous matched and original white set with a thin crescent of irridescent reddish amber on the bottom of each obverse. "D" mint has PCGS pop of 53/0,NGC pop of 75/2. I believe the "D" mint to be one of the absolute scarcest Commems in Superb Gem. Their absence from most inventories and auctions suggests that the 2000 sets distributed by Stacks may be all that exist of the "D" mint, with the huge remainder of 98,000 being melted for future BTW and WC issues. $775
1948 P BTW NGC MS65 Brilliant $63
1948 D BTW ICG MS65 Mostly brilliant with great luster and a touch of golden russet amongst the devices. MS64 obverse, MS65 reverse $51

1950 PDS BTW PCGS66/65/66. A lovely white set with great strike and luster, well matched with a touch of haziness. I have found the '50 P and D to be tough coins in any grade, possibly another two issues that saw heavy melting, with the surviving populations much less than the estimates. $675
1950 S BTW NGC MS65 Old fat holder, Brilliant with a hint of attractive speckling. PL, but not noted (pre designation?) Clean and attractive, might grade higher. $63
1951 P BTW NGC MS65 Brilliant, older holder $59
