I don't know what is more disturbing, the auction or the individuals bidding.
Frank and I agree on this one!!!
Seller is not an "expert" but has somehow managed to acquire the key date 1893-s Morgan????

Thanks for the link. At last ! There are some higher-resolution pictures of some of these coins to look at.
These are a threat to novice collectors. But after looking at quite a few, I don't see anything that would
even come close to fooling a competent numismatist. It looks like these have been made by spark-erosion
transfer dies. A lot of them have small pits and/or pimples all over the highest parts of the coins. The most
accurate-looking fakes appear to be some of the Buffalo nickels, mostly because the fake dies are quite mushy
and, to some extent, they mimick the appearance of very late die state strikes (but the fakes are lacking even
more detail than late-state genuine coins).
Something about the sunken-relief design of the $2.50 and $5 Indian Head coins makes it easier to get a good
transfer (to make a fake die). Of all these Chinese fakes, perhaps the most accurate one of all is this one (below).
But even so, it is easy to spot as a fake. The original (genuine) coin would have complete well-defined centerlines
down the middle of every letter. The fake can easily be spotted by looking at the "ERI" of America and elsewhere.
The Lebanese counterfeits of US Gold coins from the 1960s are more convincing than these.
Here is another example of an easy-to-spot fake. Other than the laughable date numerals, the tell-tale signs are
the rough pimply texture on the high points (note the texture on the flowing hair strands behind neck), washed-out
lettering (see "IN" of IGWT), and total lack of feather definition on Eagle's body.
The two-headed 1922 Peace Dollar shown above is quite a bit closer to the real thing. Bet there are still some signs,
like the overall lack of sharp detail, the lack of the trough along the back edge of the neck, fuzzy washed-out area where
neck meets jaw, recessed portions of hair lacking detail.

Is that a stuffed animal laying on the couch in the background of that one pic? It would be a real shame if this POS has young children.

I'm very glad to see that. Unfortunately, however, he currently has other listings of coins which appear to be counterfeit:
The three Legged Nickel looks bad, as do some other coins
Can you link the seller as the original listing link in the first post no longer does (I believe).
Thanks

Rick, see my previous post above yours - it contains a link to his current listings.
Thanks!
The 3legger is bogus.
really. can i have a link to that forum please. i would like to join and give my input into the matter. yes ive bought some copy coins but i havent even recieved them yet. i bought them to replace the ones im selling. the ones on ebay are geniune coins by my standards. ive taken them to normous dealers in my area and everything checks out ok. i have done so because there has been so many emails about these coins protentialy being fakes. thanks for your concern but there is no problem here.
I sent him a link so maybe he will join us.

In case the seller reads this thread.. Your Three legged Nickel is definitely counterfeit - the diagnostics do not match that of genuine ones. If you look at images of real ones, you should be able to see that. I believe that your Vermont copper is also counterfeit, as well as your Bust Quarters and Bust Half Dollar.
By selling counterfeit coins without describing them as such, you are breaking the law and your reputation on Ebay will be badly harmed, permanently.
The fact that you have received so many emails about the coins being fake should tell you something. If you really think they are genuine, you should try to get them authenticated by a grading company - that would help you get higher prices for them, anyway.

the colonial coin could possibly be a counterfeit so please research before bidding.ive been told otherwise but some people online disagree with me. so via ebay rules i will post this in my auctions for everyone to see. thank you for looking. p.s. for the coin watch community thanks for all the harrasing emails. you could have atleast listened to what i had to say.

It also damages the integrity and future of the hobby. A buyer gets soaked with a fake key date, tells his friend, he tells someone else, and so on. One burned buyer may turn into a dozen individuals turned off with coin collecting. No good for me or you. The 93S is relisted, but the seller claims it could be fake, do your research. Good work forumites.

Next time, maybe he should take 'em to, uh, I don't know, "coin dealers" instead? And they don't even need to be "normous"

The most recent 93-S dollar and three legged nickel auctions have been pulled. But I still think he has counterfeit bust quarter, bust half and colonial listings going.

it was zapped. Hopefully he will be soon too!

I think he meant "numerous dealers". His typos are a trivial matter considering what he is doing.
