Mailing coins to a "coin shop"

DNADaveDNADave Posts: 7,309 ✭✭✭✭✭
I just mailed some coins to "X Rare Coins" which seems like it could be a problem to me given I insured it for $800. Hmmm, I wonder what could be in a box to "X Rare Coins" insured for a large amount. image

Isn't that just asking for problems?

So I just labeled it "X R C" which will only help on this end of the postal system.

I send small packages to Midwest Refineries all the time insured for big amounts and I've wondered the same thing. I even send lesser valued packages without insurance and have never had a problem.

I have customers mail items to me using CCRC instead of Common Cents Rare Coins. I also do the same when shipping to other coin dealers.

I write "RMA # 323548" on the package. That makes it look like returned broken parts.

Thats why the insurance cost so much. It's not your worry now it's theirs.

I remember sending a priority package to Charles Daughtry aka Coppercoins and the PO wouldn't put it into his mailbox because the name I sent it to was NOT on the approved list of names for that PO box. So ya pays yer money and takes yer chances.

So I shouldn't the full name of my company on my return address labels when sending parcels?

it's called "Steal Me I'm Valuable and Easily Fenced Rare Coins, Inc."

That's why I list multiple variants on my box: Jeremy Katz, JKCP, JK Photography. If someone were to write out JK Coin Photography, it's technically covered, though I don't have to make it explicit on the application.
