The Unabomber's Silver Bullion Coin

Among the items found in the Unabomber's infamous Montana cabin
was a one ounce silver bullion coin or "round".
Since Theodore Kacynski was not a coin collector, the silver must
have been used for some other purpose.

  • Looks like something similar to a Liberty Dollar only probably circulated through some other group. Just out of curiosity I checked the Liberty Dollars website just now and saw they are shut down due to court order. Those chuckleheads are from my home town. I hope they are in jail as well.

All that being said I think it would be cool to own the Unabomber's Silver Round.

As if Coin Collectors don't already have an image problem, now we're all potential Unabombers.imageimageimage

maybe he used silver for his home made electrical contacts or for solder?

all his parts were home made so as to untraceable.
  • Those coins have been around since the early 80's, they are quite common in survial groups and/or militias. They have been and are still commonly traded for goods and services based on thier silver content. USually spot + $1.00 or so seems to be common.

I bet 99 to 1 that he used it for a counterbalance to weigh out black powder or nitro.
