Wisconsin High Leaf Quarter Sells for $4,500.

With the US Economy in the dumps and the modern coins are out of favor with many of the "astute" coin collectors, what in the world was someone thinking to pay $4,500.00 for a NGC MS 68 (one of only 8) Wisconsin Extra Leaf High Quarter on Ebay? Ebay #200497619203. Date auction ended : 8/12/10. I could understand it if it had sold a day later maybe... Friday the 13th !! The buyer of course could have bought some high flying stocks instead !! Have a great day collecting the coins that you enjoy !!

As for Agriculture- I am certain that he must have met the Secretary of Agriculture during the Harding Administration which was Henry C. Wallace. The only reason I mention Wallace is because of the corn on the Wisconsin quarter-
It was Henry C. Wallace's son, Henry Agard Wallace that was the founder of Pioneer Hi-Bred and in the last century, he probably did more for corn than anyone ever. He was also Secretary of Agriculture for 8 years before becoming Vice President
Changed to Pioneer

I for one would gladly have paid 4500 if I thought it was really a MS 68 coin. Problem is that NGC has been all over the spectrum grading these things and it's not worth the risk without seeing the coin in hand.
I agree with dizzyfoxx.......and could probably think of 20,000 or more!!!

Knowing how NGC graded these coins early on, I would doubt that it should be graded that high.
I have a ANACS graded MS 67 that I bet is every bit as nice as the NGC 68.
